Realize this may be better suited on the Pro & College board, but thought it would be of some initial interest for folks on the Hoyatalk board to hear about former Hoya Marc Egerson being looked at by Celtics and receiving offers from European pro teams : Egerson flattered by Celtics, but may sign overseaswww.delawareonline.com/article/20090702/SPORTS07/907020342/1002/RSS02

Man did we miss a defensive-minded player who could crash the boards last season ...

Man did we miss a defensive-minded player who could crash the boards last season ... You're right...we did miss this kind of player. That said however, just cause Eg put up good number in the Colonial League for the Blue Hens...doesn't mean he would have done the same for us. I don't see him having pulled down more than 4 boards a game in the BE.

What? Eg was without a doubt a missing piece to the Hoyas the last two seasons. We all acknowledged that this team needed toughness. Eg brought toughness, agression and talent to the floor. He was essentially a more talented version of Crawford. He was the type of player that just added what the team needed.

Eg left for family reasons. It gace us all the opportunity to discuss the brillance of the minutes given to Baby Doc.

Egerson's Offensive Rebounding %/D Rebounding %: 05-06 (GU): 13.0/18.3 06-07 (GU): 6.8/13.7 07-08 (Del): 4.9/18.6 08-09 (Del): 5.4/26.9 Okay, so the last year was absurd defensively and probably the product of being the best rebounder on his team. But even if his worst year -- the partial 06-07 -- was true, he rebounded better than our PF did last year at SF. I bet we could have used him.

Egerson's was the only relatively recent transfer that I felt like was a big blow. The guy is talented and hard-nosed and could have really helped. Sure, Macklin and Rivers could have helped over the course of a season, but I didn't see them as being major losses given some serious deficiencies in their games.
