Not His Fault
Texas second baseman, Travis Tucker, talks to his glove.
At least that's what he said he did in Tuesday night's 10-6 win over Arizona State.
Tucker committed an error in the third inning when he allowed Johnny Ruettiger's routine grounder (to) go through his legs. Tucker, who had made just five errors heading into the CWS, offered an alibi.
"You know," Tucker said, "I actually looked at my glove and was talking to it, like, 'What are you doing?' It wasn't my fault. It was totally my glove's fault. I talked to it, settled it down a little bit."

That was an excellent game last night and it only makes it more special since it matches up the 2 best programs in the past 15 or 20 years against each other.
LSU showed me a lot in their ability to comeback twice. With 2 outs in the ninth, and down by 2, I thought Texas would hold on. On the other hand, Texas had either 4 or 5 solo homers. That is certainly not the small ball that Augie is famous for. Also, it's impressive that LSU could win with Louis Coleman having a very subpar outing. I've seen that guy 4 or 5 times this year and he is money. He reminds me of Kevin Brown. He has the same posture, delivery, motion and movement. I haven't heard him interviewed, but I think it's so similar that he had to grow up idolizing Kevin Brown.
In any case, I presume Renaudo is going for LSU tonight. He actually was LSU's Friday night starter all season. Coleman was actually their #2 guy, but he had been more effective in the post season, so he got the nod last night. I think LSU is likely to close it out tonight.

i would never count this Texas team out considering the magical ride they've had so far this post-season

Don't be surprised if Texas hits well against him. I watched him in the Super Regionals against Rice and he's got good stuff but makes a lot of mistakes. Jungmann was great tonight, and his 9 inning should-have-been-a-shutout + home field advantage tomorrow night gives Texas the momentum. Great uniforms on the field tonight -- love the gold tops for LSU, and I think Texas' burnt orange jerseys with gray caps/pants are the best in college baseball. Can't say the same for the announcing -- Mike Patrick is still a very strange old man.

I don't expect a high scoring affair at all. Texas has had trouble scoring runs for the most part and Renaudo is a damn good pitcher in his own right. I think his last two struggles were more of an aberration. I think LSU wins it tonight. And I don't say this because in the contest on the radio I picked LSU over Texas in 3 games. That has nothing to do with it. Well, ok, maybe a little.
I feel like I deserve it though. In our blind draw that we do before the CWS I pulled friggin Southern Miss. I was pulling an envelope 7th, meaning that 6 of the 8 teams had already been pulled. When I was drawing, there were two teams left -- Southern Miss and LSU. Of course I pulled the stinker of the bunch. So not only did Southern Miss knock of my Gators the week before, but then they went 2 and out when I wanted them to win.
In any case, one of the local radio stations did a contest where you call in and give the winner, the runner up and how many games. That allowed 64 people to get in the contest. It's only for a $50 gift certificate at a local restaurant, but I'll take it. Let's Geaux Tigers!
