tinyurl.com/ko4wnrCongrats to Urban Meyer for doing a bang up job... You're right, I linked the wrong story... my bad. Either way, yes that photoshop is hilarious, too.

You sure you linked to the right story?
(Don't get me wrong. The Photoshop story, if true, if hilarious. Just didn't see anything about UF there.)

If only these players could spend five or twenty minutes around Tim Tebow, their lives would be better for it. [/Brennaman] It's not pointed out in the Deadspin article, but it has been pointed out elsewhere that Meyer's fifth recruiting class, the one with no arrests (YAY!), graduated from high school about a month ago. What an accomplishment.

Well, boys will be boys. I'm sure hifi will weigh in on this with lots of irrelevant blustering. Like maybe pointing out all of the transgressions by FSU players.

I'd still like to know how Tim Tebow had courtside seats for the Magic-Cavs game in ECF? Those don't come cheap and if he got them from anyone as a "gift"--that is a violation of NCAA rules--then again since his dad is a "Pastor/Spiritual Advisor" believe that his congregation is very generous.

according to espn, in the same time period fsu (the team hifi loves to bash about this type of thing) has had 13 arrests and miami only 2, but i'm sure the uf apologist will have some sort of excuse for urban cryer.

Typical Hifi--he runs over like a female dog to post about Alabama and their issues--but the minute there is a thread that actually allows him to discuss his obsession-but it's fact related and negative instead of how he bought a dime bag off Tebow's 2nd cousin outside the Waffle House in Daytona and they met Nick Calathes alien parents, he's absent.
This is why the edited is a TROLL and it's an embarrassment he's been allowed to post here as long as he does--it's bull.

Hey, hey, hey ... That's not true. I am just checking back to this board. I went from the "front page" directly to the Bama thread as that was the one with the most recent comment. THis is the first time I've seen this thread on this board.
This has been a hot topic down here most of the week. In fairness, a good bit of this isn't really "Gator" activity, but much of it is. They have a sandwich throwing incident involving a player who had already been dismissed from the team. I kid you not: he threw a half-eaten sandwich. Whether he threw it at the employee or at the trashcan behind the employee is in dispute, but in any case, he had already left the team. Yet that is listed as a Gator arrest. Also, guys like Avery Atkins count even though he had also been kicked off the team. I feel bad for that kid. He had a lot of problems and football might have been his way out. Unfortunately we'll never know. In any case, he too had been kicked off the team already. They also have the Tony Joiner "arrest" on there. That was a complete misunderstanding. He went to get his girlfriend's car back that had been towed. He had the money to pay for it but there was no one in the office. He waited and waited but no one showed up. The tow yard was open and he drove the car off. The owner of the business had made arrangements with him already and was mad at his employee for not being in the office where he was supposed to be. The owner insisted that he didn't want to press charges, yet that is reflected in those numbers. All of that being said, there's no doubt that there have been too many off the field incidents recently among the Gator Nation. Like I have said all along though, the real key is how you handle these incidents? At Florida, the player is typically suspended or dismissed. At Miami they make the player run stadium steps. And at FSU, they put one of those snappy tomahawk stickers on your helmet.
As for the comparative article, I've got to admit that Shannon is doing a good job at Miami with regard to attitude and the thugish reputation that the Canes used to have. For that he is to be commended. I mentioned before how I liked his approach. The first thing he did was get rid of the names on the back of the jerseys. We are a team he said. He also limited cell phone use on campus above and beyond University policies. I know that doesn't sound like much on the surface, but I do think that a degree of "proof being in the pudding" applies here. He instilled discipline where it scarcely existed. I don't think that the amazingly low number of incidents over the past few years is an accident.
Finally, yes, there is much discussion down here about the number of Gator incidents and it isn't anything that we are proud of. In fairness, back in the day, Miami did have many such incidents, but the difference is that they were proud of them. But in any case, Miami under Shannon is making tremendous strides in the right direction.
RDF, I'm sure you'll have some nonsensical rant about how I never recognize things negatively impacting the Gators or how I never recognize positive stories about Georgia, Miami etc... Once again, you would be wrong.

I'm real surprised that 14 of the 24 arrests were dropped. I'm sure it's very difficult to get charges dropped in Gainsville when you're a member of the national championship winning football team. Maybe they all had the same lawyer Devo used.

chep, I agree with your sentiment to a degree and it's certainly hard for me to view things without my orange and blue goggles. That being said, there were a large number of bogus charges on that list. The "felony vilolation of a restraining order was a total crock for example, as well as the felony theft, when Joiner took his girlfriend's car from the tow yard. Others were total non-issues as well.
