I'm just curious. Anytime a recruit takes some time deciding, there are always a bunch of fans that get angry at the player for taking their time.
Really?
Listen, I have no life. I think that's pretty clear from my post count. I go to a bar for every game. I travel to at least a game a year. My winter social life is more or less centered around Georgetown basketball.
But I just can't get worked up over waiting another week -- or month -- to find out if a recruit is coming to GU. I like following recruiting for the same reasons I watch the NFL draft: I like seeing who is going to play for my team in the future.
But I can't bring myself to care enough about a single player to actually get angry at them for taking their time. I'm not going to even go off on how it's a really important decision for them and a minor point in our lives -- even ignoring that, I just don't get that invested.
Don't get me wrong. When Austin or Greg picked us, I was excited as all get out. But if Latavious or Roscoe or whomever doesn't pick us, someone else will. Just look at Hairston and Lubick or Thornton and Starks. And if it isn't even that -- it is just time? Eh.
Anyway, I'm curious why those who are angry/upset/annoyed enough to actually post impatient things -- or to just want a recruit to go somewhere else because they are tired of it -- or people who ascribe negative personality traits because they dare take their time with a decision -- why is it so important to you?

Excellent post SF. totally agree with your main premise: Hoya recruiting will be fine. of course i get impatient too but i try to stay optimistic while i wait rather than become more and more pessimistic/paranoid as idle time passes.
We are recruiting a number of very good players for 2010 and beyond. Even if we don't get our top choices we will still get players that we like tremendously.

Great post. Since I presume this stems from the Latavious discussion, I will say I don't care if he takes until the start of classes to decide. And even if doesn't come to Gtown, like you said, there are LOTS of other players we are recruiting. If we lose one recruit (whoever that may be), the sky isn't fallin'. And yes, why get angry at an 18 year old kid who doesn't want to come to Gtown? Let him go wherever he wants. JTIII for the most part has done a great job with the program and lots of kids want to come play for us. I think the 2010 and 2011 classes are loaded. I'm looking forward to seeing who we land (in addition to Markel and Nate).

These guys are supposed to decide on my time table and that is now, dammit. Unless you are Latavious who must hold out until his thread reaches 50 pages.

I personally don't get invested in the recruiting process. I don't care about them until they sign the LOI and set foot on the Hilltop. I've got more important things to worry about until that point.

Don't get me wrong -- I love it, too. Otherwise I'd find myself a life. Except this year. My mood was definitely affected by the losing.
I imagine I was somewhat unbearable in the Esherick years.
