After three pages about a comic no one read in the 1980's, not one post about the Wolverine movie?
Not a big fan of what they did with the origin, but it was a decent movie.

After three pages about a comic no one read in the 1980's, not one post about the Wolverine movie? Not a big fan of what they did with the origin, but it was a decent movie. HA! Haven't seen it yet. I heard they ruined Gambit though. And without having even seen the movie, I am going to say, almost for certain, that they ruined Emma Frost as well. I will be happy to be proven wrong, but I really, really doubt it. I like the X-Men movies, for the most part, but I really hate how they have changed, in many cases for no good reason, the depth and back story of many of the characters. Biggest crime to date (keeping in mind that I haven't seen the new one yet): Rogue. Crizzy, what a mess they made of that. If you wanted a poor little naif as one of your protagonists in the first few movies, why not go with Jubilee instead of wrecking the character of Rogue to fit your scripts. I will forgive them for their bastardization of the Phoenix story with Jean Gray. That was one that probably needed the adaptation they gave it. Also, for someone who was one of the original X-Men, Angel deserved a bit more than just a stupid cameo in #3, IMO. I've always thought that Angel had one of the best stories of all the X-Men, particualrly when they became X-Factor, but I doubt Hollywood could ever do justice to the Apocalypse storyline, so I'm not really expecting anything.

I liked it better than I thought it would - probably because the reviews were not that favorable. (kind of the opposite of Star Trek, for me at least).
I'm not sure how they "ruined" Gambit. I don't think he was in the movie enough to be "ruined." I do think they whetted a lot of people's interest to find out more about the character.

They completely ruined Emma Frost. And Mariko. And they made Heather Hudson an 80 year old lady. And they made Wolverine an American. And they used a bunch of crappy throwaway characters. And they set at least 20 minutes of the movie in Canada but there was no Puck (boo!)
Gambit was okay - I didn't think they did a bad job there. After X-Men 3, I had really low expectations though - as long as the characters weren't pierced, tattooed, and dating Brett Ratner I was happy.

Haven't seen it yet (but plan to). I heard it's better than 3 but not as good as 2.

Haven't seen it yet (but plan to). I heard it's better than 3 but not as good as 2. Not as good as 2, but it doesn't belong anywhere near 3. 3 was just an abomination. And Boz, c'mon, Jubilee is a terrible character - she was the quota-filling Jar Jar Binks of the cartoon in the 1990's. I'm totally on board with "don't wreck Rogue" but one of the things the movies got right was not using Jubilee at all. You want a waif - go with Kitty Pryde, or non-Asian Ninja Psylocke, or non Demonic Sorceress Illyana Rasputin, or Dazzler, or maybe even Danielle Moonstar - but ugh, not Jubilee.

Kitty Pryde is OK. I think they tried that in #3, when Anna Paquin said, "So, this is it for me, guys. I have to go make a vampire show."
But, and I cannot stress this enough....Do NOT touch Dazzler, Hollywood. You hear me? DO NOT!
There is no way they won't completely wreck it...and that's assuming they DON'T cast Lindsey Lohan or some idiot like that in the lead role, which I wouldn't put past them.
I know Jubilee sucks, she was just the first that came to mind who fit the type they were looking for in #1. The real Rogue, of course, does not fit that type at all.

Agree, Boz. Rogue may actually be the coolest character out there. If she's not, she's close. And they butchered it.
On the other hand, give them credit for killing off Cyclops, who sucks in about every way imaginable.

so is this worth seeing i was considering seeing it but i've heard the reviews were bad. I'm not a compic book nerd so I don't actually know all these back stories to know they're ruining characters.
