Seems our president willnot allow the release of the recent photos of Air Force One flying over Ground Zero. I find this odd as the official explanation for this crass stunt was that they needed "publicity" photos of the new jet.
Can anyone help me out?

Maybe he's going to wait until several days after one of the worst natural disasters in this country's history, provide no leadership or relief, and then get some shots flying over the rubble.

Sadly, that sounds like it could be true...

Strummer: That pithy little answer would be funny if our new President were not the agent of change and hope. We all have to trust and believe that he is different, better, anointed...
So why the hold up on these photos, the taking of which scared the hell out of several thousand New Yorkers?

Honestly, it seems like it was a pretty dumb and insensitive stunt. I don't disagree with you there. Really, there's no need to harass New Yorkers with planes anymore. But I would like to see some evidence that this was in any way run by Obama before blaming him for the decision. Someone in some White House PR office fouled up. It doesn't mean the President personally gave the order to go zipping around NYC in Air Force One.

Fair enough. However, I firmly believe that the current refusal to release said photos comes right from Mr. Obama. If nothing else, it has to be on his radar, no?

I mean, they're just for stock footage of Air Force 1, right? So they should show up soon enough. Do you have any evidence that they're specifically being withheld?

Really, there's no need to harass New Yorkers with planes anymore. Yes, things were much more fun in the 1980s, when there was a huge need to harass New Yorkers with DC-9s.

Only if one can believe the New York Post which details the withholding of same in today's edition.
it's really not that big a deal, but given the outcry in New York, perhaps could be handled a little better.

The White House is not paying attention to these photos. They are too busy being enchanted and celebrating Cinco de Cuatro.
(bad things happen when TOTUS isn't around).

It's pretty much saying "we have nothing else".

The TOTUS blog is hilarious, unless you have no sense of humor whatsoever (and it's only rarely mean-spirited).
I am not calling it a serious attack, but it is damn funny.
You can bet that whenever I refer to TOTUS, I am almost certainly kidding. But, I will say that it's funny, in part, because there is a kernel of truth in it, that Obama is nowhere near the smooth talker people like to make him out to be unless he is reading from a script. (I've never heard a president say "uh" so much in my life.)

I believe if you go back the original Aramaic, Christ often used "uh" for dramatic effect and gravitas, just like the second coming in D.C.

Here they are: www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/05/08/air.force.one.flyover/index.htmlAnd the low-rank officer that failed to alert the Communications office and other White House offices about the fly-over has resigned (as he should have, in my opinion). Happy now?
