Lamont Jones #33 on the US all stars in the Capital classic game was named as being down to Georgetown and Cincinnati.
3 star rivals prospect
he ends up with 18 pts in the game only 5-11 but sounds like could be another option at point guard besides the other ones mentioned thus far on the board.

What's his deal? What's his game like? Does anyone know how he compares to the other guards we're going after right now (Sanford and Thompson)?

According to Rivals: 2009 prospect Lamont Jones has had a strong season for national power Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy. A physical scorer, Jones has successfully made the transition over the year into being a high level point guard. Once committed to Virginia Tech, it now looks like Jones will be running the point for a different program after decommitting from the Hokies this week. Not in their top 150 list however. rivalshoops.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=57355

he knows how to win. lets pick him up They also said he was from NYC. We need to have at least one NYC kid on the team now that Sapp is gone. OK, I don't really know who's the best one. But it seems like Vee Sanford, Brandon Thompson and Mo Mo are competing for one slot to work with Wright and Clark... and maybe Freeman, in the Guard rotation. I hope we get the best one, but I am REALLY glad that JT3 is serious about adding another G to this team.

I'd like someone who is a good shooter from 3. We missed having a marksman on our team this year. Either that, or Free needs to go back to shooting like we all know he can.

I am pro-Lamont Jones. Watched him a few weeks ago on a televised Oak Hill game. Love him. Tough as nails and very aggressive. I hope we land him because we don't need Cincy to out-tough us again.

If you saw the Oak Hill/Montrose Christian game played at Georgetown Prep, you saw Mo Mo act like a punk in the 4th quarter & bait a couple Montrose players into technical fouls. I am NOT a fan.

Couldn't agree more Vegas. I saw him play last Saturday against St Benedicts and the kid talked trash constantly. I specifically remember him scoring on one of the Benedict guards then looking at the crowd and saying "come on dog" as in nobody can guard me. Also rememeber him giving a throat slash after another bucket.
I looked him up after the game and was shocked to see he wasn't rated higher because he definitely has the talent. But to me he just came across as a punk on the court, Gtown should have better options

I think being smart enough to bait other players into technical fouls while avoiding one yourself sounds like a good thing, but i didn't see it.

He definitely came off as a punk in the Oak Hill/Montrose game. It wasn't just that he was trash talking... Armwood (from MC/Nova) bumped him the slightest bit, clearly inadvertently, on his way back to the huddle, and Jones did a REALLY exaggerated fall and the ref stupidly called a tech. Jones then got up all smiling and clapping. At the time he was committed to VT and not on the Georgetown radar but he stood out to me not because of his play (which was decent) but because of his attitude. Seemed like somebody who would fit in with Eric Devendorf or Greivis Vasquez.
I'm sure if he ends up on our team I'd learn to love him, but he does play with an attitude like those guys.

It was Montrose. And oh dear heavens he knocked opponents off their game. Why didn't he invite them in for tea? Didn't see Prep's game so can't speak to that. I'm not worried about a kid who trash talks. He has to meet the staff, so it's not like they'll take him if he's a real problem child. Also, he might add something to the night of the living Hoyas we witnessed at times this year.

I was often more impressed with Momo than with Tyreke Evans when they played at American Christian last year.
He did carry alot of weight for a pg, though.
And he has attended 3 "schools" in the last year. The quotes are because one was American Christian.

we need a little fire on this team.....as much as a punk as devo and grevis are they're good and for the most part back up their talk. If he's a cancer obviously we don't want him but I think JTIII has a better feel of the kid than we do at this point. If he's indeed recruiting him I would trust his judgment

People need to remember that this is one of the most tightly run programs in the country. If Mo Mo chooses to come here, he will be under the close watch of the coaching staff and perhaps more importantly the coach emeritus. There is no way that this kid comes here and acts like Devendorf and gets away with it. That was Syracuse, this is Georgetown.

So he claimed to be down to Gtown and Cincy during the broadcast of the Cap Classic or...?

If he commits, how does that effect Markel. Also this could open an Oak Hill to Gtown pipeline. My boy coaches there and I beg him to send players to Gtown.

the announcers of the Cap Classic game said he was down to Gtown Cinci and I thought maybe someone else but could be making it up...definitely heard Gtown and Cinci though
in terms of affecting markel....I think Markel is more of a point than Momo....from what i've heard he was a 2 that made the adjustment to run the point out of necessity this year for oak hill
