I think Coach Johnson got a pretty good one with Hummer. He should do well at that level. Tough player.
I know it has been said but it's a huge dagger to me to see Yarou going to Nova and Taylor going to Pitt and no big guys coming to Georgetown. Ugh. Either of those guys would be really help in addressing our needs up front, and instead we're going to be getting pushed around by them for the next couple of years. I know Taylor didn't like our style of play... Mouph, who knows, I mean Vetter wasn't going to push him to us, but the fact that Jay Wright was flying to Benin to meet the Yarou family while JTIII was taking Ryan Kelly to Booey's wasn't really to our advantage either. Oh well, can't change it now. Hope we get motivated and don't let it happen again though. I am certainly more upset about seeing those two go to Big East schools than I am about seeing Hairston go to Duke (which was treated like a major tragedy when it first happened).
Terrence Ross is a good shooter/scorer who will be in the mix with guys like Barton and Kendrick for a 2010 scholarship. If he wants to stay east, we might have a decent shot if we want him.

RDF, you've hit on a couple of points that too often seem lost on folks regarding local recruiting. Sometimes because a kid plays on a local team, it's assumed they are from the DC area and we should be in great shape to recruit them. Ain't necessarily so. And we shouldn't cavalierly dismiss the interest that a kid has in going to school elsewhere, no matter how enthralled we might be with GU and DC. We simply aren't all things to all people.

This is way too logical. Clearly, if we here on Hoyatalk want a kid and we don't get him, it's due to a deficiency among the coaches.

Dashonte Riley also had an impact on some of this recruiting, no? I mean, if we had a big in the fold already, we surely wouldn't be activiely looking to bring in other bigs.

It's all about Riley.
Who isn't comfortable with a Monroe/Sims/Vaughn/Riley foursome next year at PF/C with Nikita providing spot duty?
Even if Greg left, you'd have a nice rotation of four guys because Nikita would likely get a little more time there. You'd be smaller but you wouldn't be worried about playing Nikita 30 minutes by default or trying Hollis at PF.
And in '10, Greg likely is gone but Lubick comes in with a senior Vaughn, junior Sims, would-be sophomore Riley and spot duty by then-RS junior Nikita.
That's the kind of depth we need. We need four real big men and a three who can play spot duty. You can function without but that's ideal to me.
I'd like 4 PF/C who can play. Three assorted wings, one of whom can slide to the 4 and one of whom can definitely play the 2. 2 G who can play PG.

I hope to see progress and development from Vaughn next season. Based on the little I have seen of him, I am not too comfortable with him as a major contributer at this point.
Nikita seems like a nice role player.
Sims will be awesome!
Go Hoyas!
