I am NOT a recruiting guy, but I read the sports page on the can like many of of you. Today I was reading the new Haven Register and they have their All New Haven Team (hardly McD's AA, but bear with me).
There is a selection on the team named Jeremy Moore, no height weight but he averaged 14.4 pts, 6.0 rebbies, 4.6 steals and 4.1 assists this year. Team was 62-8 over the last two years.
It says he is going to GEORGETOWN to play football.
Seems like a walk-on candidate to me. Anyone know if he has been approached by III or the roundball guys about at least being a practice player?

It depends on whether or not he's getting a scholarship for football right? doesn't it count against your scholarship limit if you give them a different sports scholarship and have them play basketball? Or is that not true?

I have no idea who Jeremy Moore is,
BUT! If this were 10 years ago and this was BOBBY Moore from Hillhouse? I'd take him in a HEARTBEAT. That dude was one of the most talented high school guards I've ever seen. But the inner city life took him down and he never played a second of college basketball.
Dude was the straight up truth, though. Maybe the two are related.

Bmartin - good find. The first sentence in his bio is "one of the best athletes in the area." six boards a game and not even 6 feet, plus he plays defense:) Sounds like practice squad material to me.

if he's getting a scholarship for football clearly wouldn't count against the scholarship limit...it's sport specific

ok good, I clearly made that up. It makes sense too. I don't think too many schools would wastes other sport's scholarships on basketball. .... maybe kentucky.

if he's getting a scholarship for football clearly wouldn't count against the scholarship limit...it's sport specific I'm not sure if they've changed the rules since Hester/Gaughn/Paulus, etc, but none of those folks were on a basketball scholarship. I'm fairly sure it applies to DI-AA as well, but at the highest level, the scholarship always applies to football if a football players plays multiple sports. The player could be a much better basketball player, but he's still free for basketball and a schollie for football if he receives aid.

The only issue I see is that JTIII has usually only gotten tall guys as practice players. Kenny Izzo made the transition from football to basketball (even though that was under Esh) but got to stick around because he was like 6'8".
Although I guess he did break the mold this year with the guy we brought in who played guard at a DIII school so... maybe
