I am really bummed Peavy is not headed to the South Side. Like a true Sox fan, I will blame the GM. WHAT THE Edited KENNY?

First the Twins put up 20 runs, then Peavy exercises his no trade clause. Alternatively, one could look at it as a very good day for Twins fans. ;D Also, has anyone noticed that Mauer now has 8 home runs, one fewer than he had all of last year, in only 19 games? Me thinks that power everyone's been expecting from him is finally here.

Why didn't the mercy rule apply to yesterday's game?
I never really expected Peavy to ok that deal. I first heard that Peavy was traded to Chicago and just assumed it was the Cubs, and I have to admit, I got excited when I heard it was the Sox, but I'm not at all surprised that he vetoed the deal. A pox on him and his.
Mauer is obviously on PEDs. It's guilty until proven innocent these days, isn't it?

So, the Padres are mediocre at best, and while I'd hate to lose him, I'm petitioning for Adrian Gonzalez to be shipped to the Reds.
Twenty-two home runs with your home games at Petco? Devastating.

Or if he was still in Texas? (Speaking of which--Gonzalez & Chris Young for Billy Killian, Akinori Otsuka and Adam Eaton has to be up there with the Pierzynski trade and the Garza & Bartlett for Delmon Young and Brandon Harris trades as the most lopsided this decade) On another note, Mauer now has 12 home runs and is hitting .431/.516/.873 I guess all the Wieters hype got him angry ;D

Yeah, this is truly remarkable. Has he outhomered the rest of the team? Too bad Gonzalez is only 5th among first basemen in the all-star balloting. Of course, it's hard to argue against Pujols being first, and Gonzalez will clearly make the team, anyway.

Of course, it's hard to argue against Pujols being first, and Gonzalez will clearly make the team, anyway. The rest of the team has 34 - led by Scott Hairston's 8. But it is close. It's actually pretty rational that Ade is not second in voting if you think about it. You only vote for one player -- there's not tiered voting like MVP. So there's two reasons to vote for a player: you think he's the best player or you vote a home town slate. Pujols is better than Adrian. So he gets most the votes for all those who vote the best player, and especially of the educated fan. If there were second place votes, I bet Adrian would be higher. There aren't a lot of Pads fans to vote the latter way.

There was definitely a collective gasp when Pujols went down and an equally collective sigh of relief when he was ok.

So Mark Buehrle did that[/b]. First perfect game in five years. Only saw the 9th inning since I was watching the Mariners-Tigers, but Dewayne Wise had a great catch to rob a home run and save the perfect game in the 9th.

Normal day, two average teams - you never know when you're going to get something really special.

They're one of three teams thus far to have scored 500+ runs, and despite today being a getaway day, the Rays were playing their regular starting lineup. Buehrle managed to shut down one of the most potent offenses in the league.

Gotta love how fast Buerhle works, too- it is like watching a video game when he is on the mound. Also gotta love that the MLB app on my iPhone allowed me to watch the last two innings of that game live from my office. I would have wished that they would also allow me to watch local market games, but I am beginning to think they are just protecting me from watching this terrible BoSox offense.

Is it wrong that I called my (White Sox fan) Dad during the 6th just to let him know that Buerhle had a no-hitter no-hitter no-hitter going? Probably.

Well, if the purpose was to make sure your dad was watching the game, then it certainly wasn't wrong. My question for you, former, is, since your dad is a Sox fan, how did you go so wrong? ;D

162 games a year and 30 teams ... (I know those numbers were lower in the past, but still ...)
That point is that it's only been done 18 times. That is a truly spectacular feat.

My dad considers my cubfandom to be his biggest failure as a father, but it was mainly a function of geography and an aunt with season tickets who took me to tons of games growing up.

I'll bet he was especially happy in 2005. ;D
