Why, why, why? (not the casting, just the idea in general)

Why, why, why? (not the casting, just the idea in general) I agree. Does the world really need a Three Stooges movie?

This is almost as bad as Cedric the Entertainer doing a "Honeymooners" movie.

Wow. Jim Carrey at least makes sense. The rest of this is just....what?

I may abhor Sean Penn for his politics (just as some may love him for the same), but I do not question his acting chops. He is extremely talented at what he does for a living. I'm sure he could pull it off.
del Toro is a pretty good actor too, but my guess is he will probably just roll out some version of slurring, mumbling Fred Fenster for his part.
None of this addresses the question of why this movie needs to be made though.
There is a time and a place for The Three Stooges.
That time and place is baseball rain delays (or, alternatively, 4 a.m. on a Sunday morning). ;D

The movie is going to be great - it's funny already. I mean, Sean Penn? That's funny. Now there's a guy who needs a sense-of-humor transplant.
I actually thought he would have made a good Moe. But Larry? Nah.

I am happy that the preview shows they have the "wild things" as people in suits (or however they pulled it off). They could have gone CGI with it, but for a story like this, I think there's a fitting nostalgia to having a somewhat awkward looking costume rather than a super-high-tech-computer-gizmo-machine.

Yeah, totally, i think it is a combination of both just because there are somethings that work better with CGI (like action stuff).

He gives me a headache, otherwise.

Oh, you'll love it. Sweet and Lowdown is one of my favorite films, and definitely in the top tier of Woody Allen movies.

Sign of my rapid aging: In arguing the case for Sean Penn's talent as a comedic actor, "Sweet & Lowdown" is cited, "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" is ignored.

When I saw this thread, I instantly thought Obama, Reid, and Pelosi. My bad.

From my youth, the Three Stooges tv show was one of the funniest things I had ever seen. I would race home from elementary school to watch the Stooges, and, get this, Amos and Andy. As a young child, having no sense of the racist stereotyping involved with Amos and Andy, I thought it was the funniest program on television. The Stooges and A&A came on back to back, followed by Popeye! For this child, what great tv! I believe that New Orleans was the last city to finally ban A&A.
