Great work in The Hoya by Bailey Heaps and Fiore Mastroianni about the two seniors: The Hoya: Op-Ed: Janson's Hard Work Had An Impact on More Than Just Hoyas Basketball -- thehoya.com/node/18362The Hoya: Op-Ed: Through Ups and Downs, Sapp Has Exemplified What it Means to Be A Hoya -- thehoya.com/node/18361 Thanks to Bailey and Fiore for sharing their stories and their Hoya Hoops experience. Those of us whose Hilltop days were in the distant past appreciate hearing about today's student perspectives. Lots of things have changed, but that affection for Hoya Hoops is the same today as it was to many earlier generations of Hoyas. Given your stories, it is clear you guys will be fans for life. Your feeling for Hoya Hoops, as strong as it may be now, is quite likely to grow even stronger in future years. Thanks and best to you both.

Great thread ... my two favorite Jessie games (viewed in person) from RDF's remarkable list were last year's home win vs. Syracuse and the BC game in the '07 tourney at Joel Coliseum. Vintage Sapp.
Jessie is huge part of Georgetown Basketball and was as important to the JTIII renaissance as the 2008 class. Tough as nails, team player, worked hard. A difficult year this year but maybe there is another chapter still to be written.
Onions!

Sad day when Jessie leaves.
I met FHillls' daughter at the Seton Hall game this year. We were bummed about the first half. She's like 8 years old, but said about the first half "There was that one play where he dribbled and like hypnotized the other guy."
Yep, that was Jessie. We smiled. With Jessie, you always smiled. The last 7 to beat 'Cuse. The jumper in Morgantown. Jessie wasn't the best. He wasn't the most talented. But he had guts. I hope we realize in the BET, guts matters and he plays every minute. He deserves it.

Thanks for the great summary of Jessie's career highlights , RDF. And thanks, Ichirohoya, for the great anecdote about Jessie extolling the virtues of Georgetown to the tour group.
I always think of the half court shot against Villanova as the quintessential Jessie Sapp play. I also think of his hustle and rebounding, the way he narrowed his eyes after he made a great play, and the forehead bumps he shared with JTIII. Jessie might also be the one JTIII-era player that could have just as easily excelled on a JT, Jr team.
As a Morningside Heights resident (which, for you non-NY'ers is immediately adjacent to Harlem), I'm also partial to Jessie as a great exemplar of both New York grit and Georgetown class and dignity.
Thanks, Mr. Sapp, for your great contributions to our school!

Sapp also hit a heave three pt shot against St. Johns (last year I think)...I just remember the announcers saying NYC was his playground and then he once again drained a beyond half court heave. Awesome.

I'll remember Jess for the highlight reel play. His patented right handed drag dribble has been documented here. I'll also remember Jess' no look alley-oop to Jeff Green two years ago in transition. That sequence (and complete dismantling of ND at home) was the coming out party for the Hoyas that year.
Here it is.
I also remember a home game early this season where Jess received a pass cutting down the lane and he ball faked right with one hand as he danced through the lane for a reverse right handed layup.
Here's the 'Nova Three
Thank you Mr. Sapp.

THANK YOU JESSIE!!!!!!
