As much as I'd hate sharing anything with those rejects it isn't completely horrible.

That is an interesting option. For lesser opponents there could be double header where non students would get to see both teams and this would increase revenues from concessions

not a bad idea at all.....Gtown should have bought the present GW mount vernon campus when they had the chance and actually had a place to put all the sports teams, practice fields etc and we wouldn't be talking about sharing with GW...they would be talking about sharing with US

Posted this on that blog, but thought it was appropos here too. Is this a good idea or am I just delirious from the flu? "Alternate proposal: the Hoyas and Colonials should go in together (a la Lakers and Clippers) and build a 9,000 seat arena on the hole where GW hospital used to be, and it should be called the George Center (which George? GU and GW fans can debate...you could even make marketing gags out of it). The Hoyas can play major-draw games at the Phone Booth, kinda like the Wildcats do in Philly, and play the rest of their games at the George." And the Hoyas would, of course, get first pick at dates and times It's not the worst idea I've ever heard, to be honest. Actually, it's very intriguing. I'm sure there are 9,000 logistical reasons (one for each seat) that this wouldn't be possible, but if it could magically happen, I'd be intrigued.

For us and GW, this would obviously be great. From a broader perspective, though, do we really need another arena in this town, especially at such a prime location?

If it houses GU hoops, and is a better venue for CBB than the Verizon Center, yes.
This would mean no beer at games though, right?

For us and GW, this would obviously be great. From a broader perspective, though, do we really need another arena in this town, especially at such a prime location? Well it would also allow mid-size bands a better option than Constitution Hall or the Patriot Center, so that is another bonus. A comparable venue might be BU's Agganis Arena, which has gotten acts like The Killers, Flight of the Conchords, Kings of Leon in addition to BU hockey and occasionally BU basketball. They manage to serve beer there too, and it right on public transportation. Why does this actually seem so logical, and what did I miss that caused GW hospital to become a hole in the ground (it seems like I was just there, babysitting my friend who had gone face first down a flight of stairs while clutching a champagne bottle in Adams Morgan).

You know, I thought that had already decided to do something with it. So much for that idea. And FLHoya, they built a new hospital across the street.

Did anyone else think "Frank Stallone" after reading this comment on OFB?
"2. If GU had the money for an on-campus arena, guess who would pay for it. You guessed it - Ted Leonsis."
