GUYS ONE THING WE HAVE TO REMEMBER ABOU MONROE AND THE OFFICIATING IS THAT THESE REFS ARE NOT GOING TO CALL FOULS IN TEH POST. ITS A GUARDS GAME, ITS A FAST PACED GAME AND THATS WHAT THE OFFICIATING REFLECTS. OBVISIULY MONROE HAS TO TOUCH THE BALL AT THE END CAUSE HES OUR BEST PLAYER BUT THE REFS WILLNEVER HELP US OUT DOWN L OW
Knock it off with the ALL CAPS please.

Thompson can not draw up plays during a timeout. What the hell was that? Don't blame chris, that was a drawn play, austin came of a screen(that didn't work) and everyone else crashed. That was the drawn play, and it was absolutely pathetic.

No point in our getting down and out...and no reason to dissect the shortcomings of any of the indvidual players. All true Hoya kids trying their best...simply out manned in the BE.
True, also, that III just hasn't got the horses...but this season--in toto--is not a big time coaching effort. The P offense has succeeded into taking us right into the Ivy League.
Good bye '09.

My criticism was tongue in cheek.
That was clearly not the play called. From what it looked like, the play was supposed to be triggered by getting the ball to Greg, WHO WAS BEING GUARDED BY A 6'3" GUARD! Wright absolutely has to make that pass. AFter that, I think Freeman or Summers was going to cut to the hoop and Greg would shoot or pass. That never got triggered because Wright simply never got the ball to our team's best player being guarded by a freakin' guard.
And I will again play the this team has no poise card, and it's because Sapp was inexplicably benched for basically the entire game. I don't know how a team this young is supposed to have poise when the lone senior is clearly being pushed out of the picture for reasons yet to be determined.

3 critical plays in my mind: 1) dajuan can't catch ball on open back door cut - probably would have given us the win in regulation 2) the travel call: are you serious with that call? It was nowhere close to a travel. I really am at a loss to explain why that call was made. 3) Greg gets mugged going up: gates gets all arm - no call. I'm not pinning this loss on the refs but you can't say that those call don't make a difference in a 2pt overtime loss. Freethrows make a bigger difference and our "best player" couldn't them. THAT is what changed the game. But no mention of it on here because its Monroe, and we can't critize him.

Our offensive scheme is broken..... as we know it works (final four, etc..), then it must be our players...
We dont go into the post and kick it out for threes we dont do pick and rolls
Austin can not create his own shot Chris has no confidence and I have not idea how many contested drives he missed.... Monroe is a freshman...left handed and isn't that physical... Jesse is lost....
JTIII better figure out his offensive schme..... because Princeton was a long time ago....

Well that was disappointing. Hoyas' interior defense and Wright's on ball defense need much work.

The Monroe FTs definitely hurt, but 0-8 in OT to me has a much bigger effect. Even 2-8 wins that game.

Its almost like the 2 local paper pre-game articles jinxed the 2 guys they focused on... Sapp who was apparently supposed to be "back" plays about 4 minutes and apparently gets benched. Don't think Sims sniffed the court...

Not a great end to this game, but it's still too early to write off the season.
This is a very young team that has not matured enough to win big games in this league consistently. Whatever the last play was they did not execute it well and give Cincy credit for playing great defense on the play.
Should never have come to that - 6 missed FTs and multiple missed layups lost this game.
It would also be nice if people toned down their venomous criticism of college students representing their school and their fans by trying their best. I understand the disappointment, but think before you post once in awhile.

Agree with Massholya about the three critical plays. I would add the 4 missed free throws by Monroe in OT (obviously) and the air ball/errant pass in regulation by Summers when the shot clock was expiring.
Agree with SirSaxa that were some positives. The defense looked better, but a team that wants to play in the postseason can't blow a ten point lead at home to middling Big East team. Our NCAA chances aren't nil, but they are not very good at this point.

There were no "critical plays" in this game that did us in. This game just should not have gone into overtime.

And this is the same "outmanned coaching staff" that went 28-6 in the Big East the past 2 years. Think before you post - try not to sound so stupid.

You cannot win in the Big East, when you essentially go scoreless in the last 5 minutes of regulation and ALL of overtime. Just doesn't work. I hope there is an explanation as to why their only senior, Jessie, is on the bench for the entire 2nd half. I hope he was just hurt. If not, they have lost him for the season. Talk about clubhouse energy. Talk about senior maturity. He has been there through thick and thin and would be the only player who was NEVER about stats and could keep this 4 McD ALL-Americans team in check. With him lost, I fear that we will have no more than 6-12 in our future, and that may be a stretch. This team reminds me of the Lakers with Shaq, Kobe, Payton and Malone (they didn't get a sniff at playoffs)- Not enough basketballs to keep them all happy- only play with one.
