Hoya Saxa!
Really?
(lock it up if clutter, but I didn't see a thread dedicated to this abomination.)

Yeah, that whole snippet was atrocious. Really beyond belief. Maybe new student orientation should include an explanation on what a Hoya is and what Hoya Saxa means. In addition, no basketball tickets should be issued to students until they pass a basic test on these terms and on the appropriate cheers to use. OK, OK, not sure the latter will fly, but the former is a must.

Some Georgetown student did a segment where he asked other students what "hoya saxa" meant. Strangely enough, those students didn't know either. He then gave a garbage explanation and stated, "That's why you'll often hear the chant 'We Are... Hoya Saxa.'"
I hope he enjoyed his first basketball game, although I doubt he stayed to the end. Gotta get up early for those SFS classes.

I loved that Doris Burke was either not paying attention to that waste of airtime at all, or didn't understand a word of it, because when they threw it back to the table the first thing she said was "But what is a Hoya, that's what I want to know?" Hilarious.

The first of many occasions last night when I wanted to throw something at my television.

That kid should be expelled, as well as those three street interviews if they were GU students.

The first of many occasions last night when I wanted to throw something at my television. This is why I keep a goodly supply of soft toys (e.g. - a Professor Chaos talking plush) around the apartment. Poor Butters got thrown at the TV so many times last night, it wasn't even funny. Double Hamburgers! Also: Mike Patrick = worst college basketball announcer ever. Yes, EVER. I've always found him annoying for his Duke slurpery, but it wasn't really until last night that I truly realized that the man simply knows nothing at all. Absolutely nothing. Doris Burke should sue ESPN for teaming her up with him.

I'm still laughing at Patrick saying a team in "Turkey is trying to get Allen Iverson" when I believe he was likely talking about Marbury and team in Greece being interested--but then again--at least he didn't go into: "What about Brittany?" rant.

By the way, who is responsible for the piece that aired before the student reporter had his little "We Are Hoya Saxa" embarrassing moment?
That piece was just way off target. Interviewing students who don't know what Hoya Saxa means? Making it appear as though no one on campus knows?? What is up with that? That's just dumb.
I'm assuming those were actual students, so anyone who appeared in that saying they don't know what it means should be ashamed and should be forced to undergo extensive re-education training with either FLHoya or MEGAFAN.
Kudos, however, to the girl who said "I don't know what Hoya Saxa means, but who cares? We beat Syracuse and that's all that matters."
Not so good on the first half of that answer, but +1,000 points for the second half! Well done! ;D

That Tuber guy sounded like a moron. How embarrassed must he be!
They should have gotten that Rabinowitz kid who did the Providence game. Not a pretty guy, but did a hell of a job.

If she only knows one thing about Hoya Basketball, at least she know the one thing that counts the most!

Judging by his facebook page, he's not embarrassed, since it's his profile picture. He's a senior too. How did ESPN find him? I assume they didn't go through Hoya Blue.

MSB grad sitting next near me at the Pitt game was chuckling with his fellow meatheads, "Huh huh, I don't know what a Hoya is, and I GRADUATED from Georgetown, huh huh."
None of these, however, can top the campus tours where the guides told prospectives, "No one really knows for sure which steps are the Exorcist steps. Some say they're the ones next to ICC, some say they're the steps by Darnall..."

And for sure no one knows how such a dumb kid ever got into GU. Maybe we aren't so selective after all.

WHAT THE [BLEEP] IS GOING ON AT MY ALMA MATER?
Doesn't The Hoya still do their freshman orientation issue where they explain all of these things, and other important facts, like the one that says "St. Elmo's Fire was not filmed here. We hate that movie!"
And you people are electing our Presidents now.......
I weep for the future. ;D
(just kidding about the last two lines, but not at all about the first two lines)
