Emotional/Adrenaline Dump from Inauguration Festivities is the reason they were so flat today.
The Inauguration was just two days ago. The Festivities have been going on all week. And I'm sure they stayed up or woke up early to go to them on the Mall and were probably too excited to get a good nights sleep on Tuesday night.
Being in D.C. I think that Emotional High really came crashing down by the time of the West Virgina game and can explain their pathetic, flat performance. This is something that would have hit this team hard since we are based in Wash, D.C. and can take part in all the festivities compared to teams out in anytown, USA.
I am going to give them a Pass on the WVA game and not judge the season based on it because of the unusual, once in a lifetime circumstances.

Not having a good night's sleep on Tuesday is why they came out flat and uninspired on a Thursday night?
This team had plenty of time (5 days) to rest and get prepared for this game. I don't buy for a second the inauguration had an adverse effect on their performance tonight.

I wouldn't be surprised if JT3 game them those days off and they only had one day to prepare for West Virignia. (with a sleep deprived practice) The Obama Inauguration was probably a once in a lifetime experience. If you understand the concept of an Emotional/Adrenaline Dump, that is basically what happened by Thursdays games. Remember these are teenagers still. Even if they were adults, I'm sure they would have crashed from such an emotional high.

Georgetown has had a run of poor play following inaugurals over the years--see the front page. Still, that doesn't excuse the dispirited play at the end of the game.

This is about the lamest excuse possible.
And for those who think I just don't like Obama, let me reassure you that I would say the same thing no matter who America just inaugurated.
As Rockaway correctly points out, the team had FIVE days to prepare for this game.
This is not an excuse, and I am supremely confident that JTIII would never use it as one.
I'm also certain that our new President would agree that it is not an excuse.

After your repeated posting after the Syracuse win, I wondered how you might explain this one. I was thinking maybe Nikita's limited minutes, but this surely tops that excuse.
