Putrid offensive game. Forced forced forced. They deserve to head back to campus for a practice tonight.
Hats off to WVU who brought their A game.
The team stopped running the offense midway through the first half and never got into it again. A lot of that was due to the WVU defense, but too many panic 3s without working the ball.
KEEP POSTS IN BOUNDS OR THEY WILL BE DELETED WITHOUT WARNING.

They deserve to head back to campus for a practice tonight. Herb Brooks style. Agree 100%. They sure as hell can't be tired.

They sure as hell can't be tired. Can't argue with that. We were horrible tonight in every way possible, and especially in terms of hustle.

we need to go get a dejuan blair type of player... we also need to give some sort of effort rebounding when we are shooting foul shots.. all i see is greg box out and i see dajuan just back out... the wv players were all collapsing to get there foul shot rebounds.
i think we should ask the ncaa if we can get alonzo mourning back on the team.haha

terrible game by the players and coaches. no effort. we were dominated by an average team, at best. crap defense. the worst display of ball handling and passing i've seen in a long time. no adjustments at all. i'd love to see our coach actually get upset once in a while, rather than just sweating quietly on the sideline. this team quit, and nothing was done about it.
anyone that thinks this team is finishing anywhere near the top of the league is insane. we're not nearly tough enough.

Putrid defensive game. West Virginia shot easy open threes all night and should have shot BETTER than they did. We should have lost this by 30.
(It was an awful offensive game, too. But we shouldn't ignore our utter inability to contest shots all night).
It's amazing how clearly this game was a lack of effort and focus:
No rebounding. Lazy passes. Bad decisions. No loose balls. Lazy defensive rotation.
I especially liked the three (?) missed front ends of the one and ones.

Dan,
You are soooooooo right. This team wouldn't even be peeling off their uniforms if I were coach. First, we'd practice. Second, there wouldn't be a ball involved, other than the one used to rebound with. Third, this team would be doing defensive slides. I don't know what's up with Chris, but he plays absolutely zero defense. I don't know how many open looks Bryant got tonight. Defense starts with the point guard, and Chris is a huge reason that West Virginia got any shot they wanted tonight. This pains me to write this because I'm one of the main ones that said Chris was the second best PG in the conference, but Chris is the one that needs to sit. At this point, the offense, and it's a huge problem, needs to be secondary. Our defense, on and off the ball, is putrid. At this point, I start Sapp and Clark in the backcourt, Summers, Sims and Monroe up front. Vaughn never again sees the light of day and Wattad is the first player off the bench. And I play with seven or eight. We can't have performances like this. West Virginia basically beat us with two guys tonight by 20 points.
Disgusting

Oh, well. Some quick thoughts: Every single player in that game played horribly, every single player, maybe Wattad and Sims get a pass, but, whoa just pathetic. Freeman and Summers had a great disappearing act, though Summers did play more in the second half. Monroe is a great great passer, but thats about it. I have thought that all season, but I think this game really exposed that fact. If we ever, ever play like that again, we are going nowhere this season. We are now really out of the Big East regular season race, which I didn't think we had a chance to win anyways, but this makes getting a double bye extremely difficult. Oh, well, save that stuff for next season. At the end of the day this game just stinks, but oh well, nothing we can do about it now. Lets just get better, and a lot better and try to learn to come from behind please. We will see where we are in a month.
Although, Chris was guarding Ruoff tonight, atleast from mid first half and the whole second half. ANd we were in zone to start the game. Also anyone who thinks Clark should start after this game is absolutly insane. If we are going to bench Wright(though he was our best player in the first half and had his moments in the second(both good and bad)), we should should bring Wattad or Sims off the bench. If Clark never sees the floor again it will be too soon.(total exaggeration, I know, but he may have been the worst of the bunch today)

I am going to get sick. As usual, when I have to work, instead of follow the game, I peeked at the boxscore before leaving work, and we were down 4 or 5 with 8 min to go. Okay, I said to myself, lousy offense, but still have a chance, and I assumed that we would pull it out. Imagine my surprise when I saw the final score - 17 points down on our own court. Saw that we were 2-17 from 3, and outrebounded by 10, while keeping it close in the first half. What happened? Looks as if they threw in the towel.

This team wouldn't even be peeling off their uniforms if I were coach. The only quibble I have is that I think the coach should be running windsprints tonight too.

Disgusting The staff should be right out there sweating with them. I know that III's calm, steady demeanor has its place, but when this team plays without heart or effort, it is up to the staff to try to do something to stir them up. A horrible game by everyone tonight. MAYBE with the exception of Greg.

To compound the horrible loss, my supposed Young Alumni section (119) was absolutely packed with annoying WVU fans. The middle of the section, where I sit, is like that every game - the seats are either empty or filled by opposing fans. Pathetic that young alums are buying season tix just to sell them.

Well this board really hasn't had a good melt down in a loooong time, two years maybe. Already I have seen us degrade our good wins, question the offense, the recruiting, and predict a very low finish in the Big East.
