America has more or less gotten rid of the Clintons. (yes, Hillary is SecState, but she was rejected - albeit narrowly - by voters; and clearly Bill has lost a lot of his luster)
America has more or less gotten rid of the Bushes. (Jeb is done; George P. might have a future in politics, but it's WAY too early to know for sure)
It's high time America got rid of the Kennedys.

Only a fellow westerner would appreciate the reference, kc, but the Udalls are far from done.
Let's not forget that Secretary Udall was one of the luminaries in the history of DOI.

Paterson deserves a pat on the back for picking an actual elected official to take the seat and bucking pressure from the Kennedys, Harry Reid, and the media to choose CK.

Paterson deserves a pat on the back for picking an actual elected official to take the seat and bucking pressure from the Kennedys, Harry Reid, and the media to choose CK. Theory: Democrats, sensing the opportunity provided by: a) Obama's election; and b) The Republican ticket's alienation of many R's and independents during the 2008 election season are positioning their party to be the new "big tent" party in America. I hope that liberal carping about Gillibrand being backed by the NRA (is there liberal carping? I don't exactly trust the NY Post) is kept to a minimum -- I'd guess there are a lot of lifetime members in Gillibrand's Congressional district.

There was one post on dailykos two days ago whining about how Carolyn Kennedy had to withdraw. Today there are two positive Kirsten Gillibrand posts there. My feeling is that the "liberals" upset about this are really only the anti-gun lady who is already saying she'll oppose Gillibrand in 2010.
