THE YOUNGINS HAVE COME THEY ARE HERE ... IL ET ARRIVE... IN FRENCH I THINK ... Lic, you are no better spelling in French than in English. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) I am glad that you can lord this game over your Conn relatives. I hope that my Conn cousin enjoyed this game too, as he has turned into a Uconn fan of the women (hope not the men).

Monroe's running hook shot high off the glass, leaving Thabeet in his dust - magnificent. At that moment I thought: enjoy him while you can. That one was a bit of a lucky heave, I would argue...

This game shows me that though Roy Hibbert and Jon Wallace were solid and great all time HOYAS, but there was a tenuousness with them (IMO) that I don't see in GREGORY THE GREAT and in CWRIGHT. The latter two seem to be just as solid, but they play with such poise and pizazz and such beauty. I remember last year when we thought we'd win some of the pre-season games by fifty (Ball State) and Hibbert would dominate, but we did enough to survive some of those games. These guys just blew the doors off some of those teams in a way that showed they are at another level. Hell, if Patrick had one more year of eligibility, we'd be the favorite for the TITLE ALONG with unc after tonight. As it is, we just have to hope that Julian and/or Sims can channel Michael Graham, who didn't become who we know and remember till near the very end of that 84 championship. HOYA SAXA!!!
(ps. BTW, I will always LOVE and treasure Hibbert and Wallace for being such great young men and Hoyas. They are ALL TIMERS for all they did and were for G'TOWN. Just REALLY EXCITED by what I see in THIS year's HOYAS)

How amazing was that! 15-1 out of the gate?! i definitely did not expect us to come out that well and punch them right in the face. Great game. Coach did an amazing job in this game. the offense defense move was brilliant.
Greg was amazing. he schooled thabeet today. He may have just made himself a multi millionaire with that game today. He and dajuan may have punched their tickets to the NBA. hopefully they stay, but there will be no question that they'll have the oppertunity to leave.
How sick was dajuan's put back dunk and his attempted dunk on thabeet. Dajuan has cahones!
chris is sooooo fast. He and austin are so good. austin did a great job of finishing around the rim. especially off of assists from greg.
our defense was amazing. not only did we force tough shots but we got a lot of steals and forced a lot of turn overs.
we looked like the veteran team out there. Inexperience will not be our downfall this year. only weakness is depth. Vaughn did a good job today on D and grabed 2 offensive boards. still needs to work on those D boards. really impressed by our guys today. now take care of pitt at home.

I know I am a recruiting geek and I should be enjoying the moment more than I am but I am really interested to see how this style of play and wins like this catch the eyes of some of the recruits that normally would dismiss us because of how the Princeton offense is perceived.
Great win again.

"I hated our body language early, saw some brief spurts, then detested it the last eight minutes," Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun said. "I'm in a state of shock, I really am. To have a home game in the conference opener against a rival like Georgetown and not be excited -- there was no reason not to be excited. I don't know what team I was coaching tonight."scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=283640041This is the second time this has happened against a name opponent this season--Maryland being the other example. The Terps and Huskies have similar "emotional problems" on the court I would argue, and certainly Calhoun gets at this and is referring to his own team's effort. Question: How much of it is what we're doing to these teams?

Calhoun was echoing what I said, that with a top 10 team like the Hoyas in the first BE match of the year, they should have been up for the game. Maybe to answer your question, FL, maybe a lot.

Thanks for JahidaHoya and the other Hoyas at the game. I am sure you can take some credit for the effort the Hoyas put on the floor.

Best aspect of the game was DaJuan continuing to attack the rim despite getting blocked quite a few times. We never stopped being aggressive and attacking Thabeet. Fantastic.
Adrien was good when he was up against Freeman. When we brought back in some size, he was much less effective.

Just got back from the XL Center. Got some tickets from UCONN season ticket holder friends. They must have had a premonition. Wore a new GU sweatshirt that Santa brought. This will be required wearing for the rest of the year.
Th Hoyas were stupendous. JT III is a great coach. Greg was awesome. My defensive players of the game , though are Omar and Julian. What they did in the matchup zone was the difference. UConn could not solve it. The youngins, as a group really drank the koolaid tonight and never, never, varied from the game plan. Good coaching, better execution.
I will give Calhoun credit. On the post game radio show, he gave the Hoyas a lot of praise.
Happy New Year and GO HOYAS!!!

Rewatched the game for a bit. Still maintain that Julian had a pedestrian/average game, but at the very least his ACTIVITY level has increased. That is a step in the right direction, and probably why Sims hasn't seen any time recently in meaningful games while Vaughn has. Still would like to see him be tougher in loose ball situations and especially rebounding on the defensive end.
UConn missed SO many free throws when they were trying to climb back into the game with Greg on the bench with foul trouble. And when he went to the bench, we were absolutely saved by having multiple guys who continued to attack the rim and create their own shots to get to the line. Something that definitely stood out the second time around, and by far the biggest difference between this year's team and last year's team.

Seriously Calhoun should be required to forfeit all of his coaching awards for sticking with a man to man defensive game plan throughout. What an arrogant edited. Unless it turns out UConn sucks, I think it's fair to say that this was the best performance by a Gtown squad since the '07 BET final. The sky is the limit, but let's carry it over against a zone.
Pop quiz: is this the best road win in the JT3 era?

Pop quiz: is this the best road win in the JT3 era? One could argue to some extent that the win against Pitt in 2004 to open league play was a better road win.
