This site has a screen cap, and I know I saw the article (and, remember, I'm not some Hifi like conspiracy guy that thinks Obama was raised by Muslims in Indonesia to take down the U.S. and eliminate Apple Pie). Wonder why it's not online anymore? gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2008/12/obama-met-with-blagojevich-in-chicago.html

KHQA's clarification that they have no idea whether a meeting ever took place : www.connecttristates.com/news/news_story.aspx?id=233822I don't think there's any conspiracy here - some program director likely found out that his news station was drawing Drudge-levels of traffic and interest from every conservative radio host in the nation and absolutely freaked out.

The WSJ unleashes effusive praise for Illinois Lt Gov (and soon-to-be Gov?) Pat Quinn, SFS '70: online.wsj.com/article/SB122903566207799711.html"Perhaps it shouldn't surprise anyone, then, that the state's power brokers are moving quickly to strip the governor's office, and thus potentially Mr. Quinn, of the power to fill Mr. Obama's Senate seat. Instead, they want a snap special election in which the Daley machine in Chicago would have an outsized influence. Illinois officials claim they are simply acting out of concern that the disgraced Gov. Blagojevich might try to appoint someone. Their real motivation may be to prevent Mr. Quinn from naming a fellow reformer they can't control."

In an unprecedented* and blatantly political maneuver, Illinois Atty Gen Lisa Madigan (C'88) has just petitioned the Illinois Supreme Court to remove Blagojevich from office, declaring him morally incapacitated.
*Unprecedented if you don't include the second season of 24 where the Cabinet pulled the exact same trick on President David Palmer.

Ha. Morally incapacitated. That's a good one. I like that.
Do Hollywood children use that to get divorced from their parents? ;D

If, and this remains a really big if, Rahm emanuelspoke to the governor and was asked for a quid-pro-quo, isn't he under an obligation to report same?
Of course, maybe he did, leading to the swift action by Justice.

From what I've read its unlikely that the courts will do anything with this, its more of Lisa trying to prompt her dad into action and getting impeachment procedures moving in Springfield. And of course in the rational 49 states of the union disgraced governors have the sense to resign, but I'm positive Blago thinks he can turn this around.

If it was a quid-pro-quo, yes, but Blagojevich spends half the report talking about how he tries to obscure things by doing them so indirectly so that they can't report him for a quid-pro-quo.

Okay. Under that scenario is Emanuel under a duty to report him given the Obama pledge of "Change You Can Believe In"? I guess my question is simply this: Are we embarking on a new type of government or is Obama the product of a filthy machine with no real interest in change at all?
Before you attack: I am not suggesting that he is or that Emanuel, equally steeped in the Windy City cesspool, ever even alerted him.

Report him to who and for what? The report says that Blagojevich intended to initiate contact with Emanuel to ask him for help on setting up a 501(c)(4), and even says that Blagojevich was going to make sure to avoid talking about either the Senate seat or the 5th CD. I don't know what else went on outside of what's documented in the report, but from what's actually in the report about "President-elect Advisor" I'm having problems seeing how or why you report Blagojevich in that context.

Where then did Blagojevic get the information that all Obama would offer was "appreciation"? Emanuel is in this one up to his eyeballs in my opinion. Of course when you elect products of a sewer like Chicago, you have to expect some residual stench.

I love how Bush can lie the country into war and repeatedly violate the Constitution, and no one blinks an eye. Obama is tangentially related to and and not implicated at all some shady dealings, and everyone goes crazy. Liberal media bias my ass. And I'd watch where I was calling a "cesspool", Vlady, considering you live in a blue state now.

: I am not suggesting that he is or that Emanuel, equally steeped in the Windy City cesspool, ever even alerted him. Support your statement about Obama's involvement in this "cesspool." Please point to some kind of legitimate facts from a reputable source that implicates Obama in this kind of wrong-doing. When you inevitably respond by failing to address any such proof, just know I'll be shaking my head.

And you'd characterize this coverage as "going crazy"?? Really again? I dispute both your premises about Bush, but OK, we don't need to have that argument. Still, I must've forgotten all the free passes George Bush has received from the media.

I've lived in a blue state for a long time (seems even longer). I don't believe Obama is involved, aware or culpable. OK is that clear? Emanuel on the other hand...
Just so I'm clear, are you disputing that Chicago politics is a filthy sewer. This is the city that spawned inter alia, Rostenkowski, Daley, Mosely-Braun, Harold Washington, etc, etc, etc. If your position is that Chicago is not a cesspool politically, you are hopelessly out of touch.

It seems to me that it would be rather insane if the Chief of Staff designate, who's previous job was a powerful member of congress from Illinois, did NOT talk to the Governor of Illinois about a Senate seat vacated by the former junior Senator from Illinois and now President-Elect Barack Obama. That strikes me as part of the job description. If someone wishes to suggest, as the RNC has done, that this sort of dealing should implicate Barack Obama, I guess they can do so. But John McCain and Newt Gingrich have both come out to condemn such a line of attack.
