I had no idea of the strength of the Vietnamese-American population in New Orleans until a couple years ago when a coworker pointed out that most if not all of the pho shops in Northern Virginia serve the same chicory as Cafe Du Monde. "Not a coincidence."

I've got a refrigerator full of cash that says you'll miss Jefferson.

Actually New Orleans reelected Jefferson in the previous election despite the charge and evidence.

Actually New Orleans reelected Jefferson in the previous election despite the charge and evidence. To be fair to Louisiana, Jefferson wasn't indicted until June of 2007. The information about the cash in his freezer did come out before the 2006 election though en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_J._Jefferson#Indictment

I'll also note that David Vitter is still a standing Senator.
However, it's good that in this case and with Stevens that the voters kicked them out, as I doubt their peers (the CBC especially in Jefferson's case) would kick them out. It's also worth noting, though, that Pelosi had already stripped Jefferson of most of his committee power.

I missed his indictment. Maybe you can fill us in. There hasn't been one........yet. On July 24, 2007, the Wall Street Journal reported that Young was under federal investigation for possibly taking bribes, illegal gratuities or unreported gifts from VECO Corporation, an Anchorage-based company. The top two executives of that company have already pleaded guilty to bribing members of the Alaska legislature.[20] The Journal said a Veco executive held fundraisers called "the Pig Roast" for Young every August for ten years. Between 1996 and 2006, Young received $157,000 from Veco employees and its political action committee. In the first half of 2007, Young spent more than $250,000 of campaign contributions for legal fees. www.politico.com/blogs/thecrypt/0707/North_to_Alaska.htmlIf not a crook, he's probably insane.

Way to quote from Wikipedia and then make it look like the text is from politico.

Way to attack the source as opposed to the information. EDIT: I guess if people don't like wiki, we can do it this way. dwb.adn.com/news/politics/fbi/story/9162143p-9077780c.htmlThat would be the associated press. Saying basically the exact same thing.

That article is from last July. One would think the FBI would be able to get an indictment (like they did with Stevens) by now if there was something there. And Bill Allen, the VECO head that gave Stevens all that stuff that lead to his conviction told the FBI (while working for them) that "Don Young can't be bought" www.adn.com/veco/story/573975.html

"Allen said that you can't 'buy' Young." I'd be rather reluctant to roll over on one of my best friend's if it could end their career and send them to prison as well...

Good riddance. But I actually opened this thread thinking it was going to be a bashing of Bubba Clinton, which is always good for a chuckle or two.
