Is this the kid who was going to UAB but wanted an assurance that Mike Davis would remain the coach?

That's not a bad thought on Cousins. Everyone on the planet will be on him, but we have nothing to lose. I am not sure he is a 5, but that isn't the point. He is another body in the post and would allow us to go high/low with Monroe. I am not sure what kind of rebounder Cousins is, but he has the size at least. What he has there might make up for less explosion to his game.

He's not another body in the post. He's basically a Monroe level recruit who has demonstrated absolutely no interest in us ever, and that we now have people seeming to think we have a shot at. I'm not looking to be Debbie Downer, but I think getting our hopes up about this is pretty ridiculous.

In terms of rankings, that seems about right (but it also means that Cousins is a Vern Macklin level recruit), but I see Cousins/Monroe as different players. Monroe strikes me as more of a JT3 player, when Cousins seems like more of a Pops player, if that makes sense. Of course, this is all a pipe dream, but that's why message boards are around. Virtually everything right now involving GU and 2009 is a pipe dream.

Cousins is a great passer, can face and shoot and has a post game. He also has attitude. He would fit into III's system, but there's no shot. Its Mike Davis or bust.

So what is the point of him trying to get this opt out clause like Devin Ebanks had then? If he is going to go where Mike Davis is no matter what then why not just sign early? I agree with you and still think he will be where Davis is but something seems off to me. Why won't UAB give Cousins the clause to opt out when Indiana did it for Ebanks and Holloway? It may be more complicated than it seems but I just don't see why one school would give it to their recruits and another school(which this kid puts their team in the national spotlight and competes with Memphis for the division next year) would not give it to their recruit. Especially when it doesn't seem like Davis is going anywhere. Am I missing something here?

He is at UAB for now but I imagine he'd be seriously considered for bigger jobs that become available. Which is why Cousins wants the opt out clause. Although he is a Alabama guy though so he may enjoy it being back in his home state. I am sure his dream job is Bama but that job shouldn't be opening up any time soon.
Btw, what were some of the potential suitors Cousins listed in his recent article? I imagine Gtown was not metnioned or I am sure that info would have made it to this board by now.

My sources tell me Gottfried is gone. They also say Davis may not get it even though he clearly wants it and is holding out for it.

UAB and mike Davis are not on good terms at all. cousins knows this. it will be interesting to see how this plays out but i doubt Hoyas get involved with this kind of situation.
