Impressed with his production. He looked like the Omar (3 pointers) that I was use to seeing in Tenn. Hope that he get more playing time.

On the assumption that Friday's output was not a fluke, I think he cemented his place in the rotation for the foreseeable future. I don't see him ever getting much more than 10 minutes in a game, and he will more often get fewer than that, but he looks like he is creating a role for himself on this team.

On a team that desperately needs depth, Omar showed he can make a difference. We need all the help we can get. Julian Vaughan and Henry Sims need some time and opportunities to see if they can help this year. We really need at least one of them to make his presence felt.

I noticed that when Omar got the ovation from the Hoya fans after his 3-3 run, a lot of Tennessee fans seemed to join in. Very classy of them to cheer on a native Tennessee-an.

The stat sheet said that he pulled down a decent amount of boards too, which in tandem with his defense should keep him on the court for significant playing time.

Like I said before, once confrence play starts you will need the rotation at 8 with an occasional 9th guy in. I expect that Wattad is solidly in that front 8, with Henry being the 9th. Minutes that go to 9th are about 5-7 a game max. 8-6 will all get about 10-15 minutes a game
Starters will play btwn 28-35+ minutes a game range.
I expect that we will see: Wright: 35+ minutes a game Sapp- 25-30 minutes a game Freeman 25-30 minutes a game Summers 30-35+ minutes a game Monroe 25-30 minutes a game.
Low/High: 140/160 minutes per game for the starters, leaving 60/40 to the bench
Clark: 10-15 Wattad: 10-15 Vaughn: 10-15 Sims: 5-10 Nikita: 0-5
Most likely youll see Vaughn, Clark, Wattad combining for about 35-45 minutes, with Henry getting 5-8 learning mintues a game.

lic... nice to see you back on the board. Was wondering where you and your color commetary were hiding. Hope you had a nice holiday. I read somewhere what you were saying about Henry as well. I pretty much agree with all that's been said in this thread but, from what I've seen, I'm hoping that Clark will progress to a point where he may even see a little more time than hoyalawyer predicted. The silly/over-anxious fouls clearly have to go but he really seems like a guy with the skills to help us tremendously over the long season. Enjoy the last of the holiday weekend all and GO HOYAS!!!

Hmmm. I actually disagree. I think his shooting yesterday was particularly good, but overall his defense was a major let down. For those who closely critique the game, you would notice that his man (Tatum) was the one that caught fire near the end when we were trying to mount a comeback. He was slow on the close out and then seemed a little apprehensive to pressure him. I imagine he was scared of the blow by. Definitely looks like he will be able to come in and provide some spot duty, but honestly his defense has got to improve. Appears a bit slow laterally if he is gonna defend the high major guard position. TN exploited that. Just my 0.02
But I do love guys that give themselves to the program and stick around and are willing to do what it takes for the TEAM to succeed. He just looked a little overmatched on D.

During the off-season, Omar was the last person I expected to be in the role he's in now. I noticed during out last timeout that he was also doing a decent amount of talking. OK, so maybe that didn't necessarily help us pull out the win. But there are a lot of PE2 similarities. He's got the spot in line during player announcements. He's fairly quick off the bench. He seems like he may be taking on an interesting leadership role. I don't think that's a reason to give him playing time if it hurts the team. I think by the end of the year, Clark may take some of his minutes. But it's nice to see how he's stepping into a needed role.

Omar has a Hoya future. After the game the Tennessee players - Omar is from the Knoxville area - were quoted as saying that they were not surprised by his shooting and that when they play with him in the summer that he is a go-to guy at the end of games because he will make the big shots.
Sitting behind the bench against Tennessee, you could see the rapport he has with his teammates. After he hit his third 3 and UT called timeout the rest of the team was mobbing him and he was trying to calm them down. He said something like "cool it dudes we have the rest of the game to play."

anyone notice omar glaring at the TN bench after his third 3? not that it was the end of the world but probably a little much and the vols seemed to ramp up their intensity from that point on. in games like that where theres no natural rivalry no reason to give the opponent a mid-game "bulletin board" moment.
that being said, if he continues to hit three trays a game he can glare at whoever he wants and ill live with it.

I recognize simularies in Wattad and another homie from Tennessee, Omari Faulkner. Both were very good prep athletes. Their skill level slightly below Big East talent. I believe that Wattad will be productive by his senior year.

he's just a terrible defender, not really athletic enough to complete in the big east. glad to see him shooting well now though.

he is a tenacious defender but is slow-footed and slaps at his man too often...the first thing they tell you in cyo is play defense with your feet, not your hands.

Omar does seem to have trouble getting around a screen or bouncing off a pick. Overall, I think the minutes he's seeing is doing good things for his confidence and his game.

I like omar but he better enjoy this why he can. He plays stupid to me, all he does is foul. He leads the nation in and ones. I hate it when he swipes down and looks shocked when a foul is called. He can help in spot minutes but that's it. He shouldn't play more than clark.
