Well, I'm pretty sure if GULC was looking for a way to get on Fox News, they've found it.
I see no reason to give this man a platform. Hopefully everyone will be too busy watching the Jacksonville game to attend.
(PS - That Amazon description is about the biggest whitwash I've ever seen. Who writes that tripe?)

Ayers taking a more prominent spot in the limilight just weeks after his "neighbor" got elected to the oval office ... hmmmm.

There are currently 6 threads on the Blue and Gray board that you are the last person to comment on (now 5, because I'm commenting here). Does it ever bother you being the most useless person here?

Ayers is an edited and I agree with Boz that giving him a platform to speak is sending the wrong message - obviously free speech is a beautiful thing, but I just think this elevates him to a position of some authority and worse yet, credibility/legitimacy, and I would rather him fade back into obscurity...but oh well.
In any event, I hope that whoever invited Ayers will tear him a new one in their introduction a la Bollinger at CLS before Ahmedinejad's speech.

The funny thing is that I don't expect this to be all that well-attended. I know most people are gearing up for finals, not looking to spend an hour or two listening to a speech of a radical from three decades ago who somehow got dragged in as minor player in one of this election's low points.

I hold a contrary view. Shocker to most, I'm sure. He should be allowed to speak, as exposure to his nonsense, unfiltered, will reveal the loathsome hypocrite he is.

Ayers is really not worth anyone's time, so I will only post once more here, but just to clarify, I would never say that Ayers should not be allowed to speak, just that he should not be invited to speak. In my opinion, there is a difference. If Bill Ayers thinks he's got something to say that people should hear, let him write a book (he did) or start a blog/vlog. Reputable institutions need not lend credence to him. 'Vado's point is well taken though. I never thought Ahmadinejad should have been invited to speak at Columbia, but after hearing him, is there anyone around anymore who really mistakes this man for a sane person?

I guess I should be surprised that Georgetown would invite a terrorist to speak, but I'm not.

I actually agree with both of you. Let the guy show himself for who he is. Don't let him say that he's being oppressed.

Oh how times change -- a couple of months ago when this clown was being villainized by the right, some of you talked of how "people change" and that he was a decorated professor at a very highly regarded institution. Now that the election's over however, he is what I've called him all along.
