I'll take Barker Davis's word over rumors at this point.

agreed RDF. the kid signed and end of discussion. the "other board" did a good job of creating enough headlines for a week to spurn interest. greagle what does this comment mean? do you post over there?

Thanks Grad... but the ESPN site lists both Riley and Thompson as "Verbals". I did not see confirmation of the LOI signing.

If you look at the top of the link it says
Signees: 2 ESPNU 100 signees: 2 Top prospect: C Dashonte Riley
I was assuming the 1 of the 2 signees referred to Riley. I don't follow recruiting nearly as much as most around here but saw this and wondered if possibly ESPN had new information or had the same "sources" as Barker.

greagle...
this is ron from hoyareport.com...i normally communicate with people via pm, but chose to not do so this time.
like enj said...what do you mean create headlines? i reported what i was told...which was true!!!!
look, do what you do, just cease with the petty, sectarian sniping will you??
ive been at this for awhile, have solid contacts nationwide, and know alot of the recruiting targets and their families. am i always right? no...you will never be with young people and their families. hence, i don't jump to conclusions, unlike other more excitable, agenda driven folks.
bottom line is, man up and take hoyareport.com out of your mouth please.
thank you.
sorry for this you all...i respect many on this board, heck i started out here (props to wilson and dfw). just felt compelled to comment on the statements of a number of people who obviously enjoy 'expert' status without acting 'expertly'.
some of these people act like sophomores ...a word derived from greek meaning wise fool...hahahahahah
sorry yall, couldn't resist.
anyway, the hoyas must look elsewhere now. itll be interesting to see how it unfolds.

ron and enjj- no i do not post over there and yes PM would have been better. This thread is about Dashonte Riley. Still, I apologize for bad mouthing your site. I just want the right information and reliable source are still saying conflicting things.

So Ron - your sources conflict with what Barker reported? It would be pretty embarrassing for Davis if he was completely wrong about this - or embarrassing for the coaching staff if they gave him false information. Bottom line it for us - has Riley signed his LOI or not?

I don't follow recruiting nearly as much as most around here but saw this and wondered if possibly ESPN had new information or had the same "sources" as Barker. GRAD I looked again and did see the "signed" list on the top of Page 1 as you mentioned. But on the next page, it lists them both as Verbals. Other schools sites have signed designations on page 2. This just adds to the confusion. However, there is enough Smoke around this one for me to believe there is a real Fire in there someplace. My guess... once again... Guess... is that for some reason, Riley has indeed backed out of his commitment to GU. Ron and Carlos on the other board have been pretty clear about this... and they are not ambulance chasers. Apparently, they've been talking to Riley's HS coach. I don't want to add to the mis-information total. I am simply providing my take after reading all the posts on both boards... and applying many years of Hoya watching experience to "interpret". Barker is usually right on. So there must be some disconnect in here someplace. Maybe Riley actually signed it and sent in, then panicked, freaked out, had second thoughts. If GU had not yet submitted the form, I would imagine JT3 would not "force" the kid to stick to his commitment if he really did NOT want to be at GU. ALL SPECULATION ON MY PART. Tough situation. Too bad for GU.

Question for those in the know, although it sounds like the latter is probably what has happened:
If Riley has in fact de-committed from G'town, are we still on his list of schools that he's considering, or are we completely finished in terms of recruiting him?

not so fast... their are conflicting reports about dash. the other board has an update. Balla knows what is going on--and let's keep this thread seperate for updates on his games/performance and not about some info that has turned about to be much about nothing. Go back, look at what/when Balla has provided info/what he's said and the accuracy speaks for itself. Look at the fact Barker Davis--who likely spoke to someone on Georgetown Coaching Staff wrote in his newspaper--and I'll take that as pretty good source--but if you want to keep believing that Riley isn't coming--at least do so in the '09 recruit thread and not this one--which was set up to track DaShonte's SR season. There is a lesson in humility somewhere here. Eventhough some posters have access to a ton of information and consistently make great contributions to this board... its important to always keep an open mind and encourage others to voice an opinion. Right or wrong..this is what this board is about.

Actually, there is only a lesson in honesty here. But I will leave it at that.

Ron--if you had a problem with greagle--you could've PM'd him. I haven't seen him say much at all and if you have any beef with things said by him--take that to PM. However--this is consistent with how some people--well okay anyone who disagrees with you is treated on HoyaReport--so at least he/others got a taste of what they are missing. I'm going to ride with Balla's info because of his accuracy and his consistency. That was my point--but I can see why RBHoya took it that way and understand you defending yourself--which is cool. I also gave credit to the site for being correct on this matter 3/4 times yesterday, went to the site and shared what I said, and why I feel that way. If you want to get at me--fine. I just feel if someone is providing accurate/great info and is proven correct enough to not doubt them--why start doubting now? No offense was intended--but I think Balla's been proven to be a great resource for Hoya fans. Will say I've seen many get defensive over words being spoken about them/their site-yet that sentiment is not returned when posters on that site are proven correct--despite the fact they go against the "proven experts" more often then not. Again--congrats on being correct--and hope this puts it to bed.

its all good greagle
guru..yes, they conflicted with barker. and clearly they were correct. i doubt it seriously if he would be a hoya. maybe mccain has a better chance of being obama's secretary of state...hahahahahaha
rdf, no congrats necessary...i dont view this stuff as a win-lose proposition...i simply reported what my trusted sources said to me. there was no speculation by my part (rarely will you see me speculate, as it makes no sense in recruiting. and if i do, i'll say its clearly my speculation, and not tpawn it off as anything but speculation).
my simple concern was the bad mouthing by internet posters. i guess i should really view it as flattering...hahahaha
like wilson said on hr...im going to channel my inner rodney king...hahahahahaha
