Drexel looks like a pretty good game against a solid mid major.

I see 21-8 Overall (12-6 in conference). Probably just outside of a double-bye for the BET, but we'll be dangerous come March!

The three additions are with W-L record and RPI/Sagarin ratings from last year: Drexel 12-20 241/230 Savannah State 10-17 254/287 Florida International 8-20 263/263 (the just-before Christmas game)
Meh... not the worst that we could have put up there, but not necessarily the best either. On the whole, this has the potential to be the strongest OOC schedule we've had in at least a decade.

Drexel was pretty good two years ago, no? Any chance they're poised to be decent this year?

That link shows the UCon game at Storrs which was previously supposed to be at Hartford (and still is on the email I just got from the Hoop Club) and the PC game on 1/10 when I thought it was 1/11 previously.

Drexel was pretty good two years ago, no? Any chance they're poised to be decent this year? Just from looking at their stats / roster: They lost two seniors, Frank Elegar, their starting center and likely best player (he led the team in scoring, rebounding, ORtg and eFG%) and Randy Ovenake, a 6'7 forward, who averaged 6.6 pts and 5 boards a game. They have three rising juniors who go 6'8, 6'8, 6'9 to step into the front court and they have a senior point guard, Tramayne Hawthorne, who averaged 11pts, 3 boards and 3 assists and was their other player with a ORtg over 100 and a eFG% above 50%. So, the answer is...maybe.

This schedule is designed for a young team that needs experience at home against good competition and at neutral gyms before going to hard places to play. The schedule is set up for growth - the difference between the team during the Memphis game and the Duke game will tell what kind of season we have. I don't know that we can say the record with an certainty given the schedule other than the fact that we'll probably finish at or above 8-8.

Glad that it's finally released. I think it's a good schedule, but a couple things keep it from being great:
1) No McDonough games. Too bad, thought it was a nice tradition to have at least one every year. 2) Our only OOC road game is at Duke in January. There's no true road game until a killer one to open the Big East season at UConn on Dec. 29. In fact, during the month of December we have 5 consecutive home games at Verizon, only one of which against an opponent most people know (Memphis). Hopefully we will be ready for hostile environments come conference play.

It seems to me that the Memphis takes place the weekend the McDonough Game would usually happen. Too bad they couldn't at least make Savannah St. a McD game though- no reason whatsoever to play that one downtown (and as an out of town ticket holder I wouldn't mind not having to pay for a ticket to that one, too).

And as someone who can't make the game due to a final exam at her non-GTown grad school, I'd be totally fine with this being a McD game. Less time I get elbowed in the face by football players heh.

Problems:
As mentioned, only one OOC road game. @duke will be tough to make an impression.
Only home OOC game of consequence is Memphis. Will be tough if we lose this, awful if we lose any of the others.
UConn @ Storrs instead of Hartford hurts us since it will be a more hostile environment. We'll also be coming off of vacation - I hope the guys get time to practice.
@ Notre Dame two days after having to play Pitt can't be good. We could conceivably start out 0-3 in the BE.
Same hosting Louisville two days after Marquette.
Villanova @ Villanova instead of Wachovia also hurts. Not many tickets will be available for our easiest road trip.
Other than this, the schedule is fine, though I'd like to be the home game for the more prime TV slot against the 'Cuse for once. Still, this and the week-long schedule break make it easier to do the road trip to the Carrier Dome.
20-9, 11-7 in the BE or 21-8, 12-6 in the BE seem the most likely outcomes. I can hope for more, though. There are a bunch of tough games but none that are unwinnable and we have a great group of student-athletes. Get them comfortable with each other and with JTIII's coaching and things will look good. Get a bit better in-game management from coach's experience this summer and things could really pop. If we can hunker down to be sure to win the first two OSC games and at home against Memphis, we could be a top-4 seed in both the BET and NCAAs. With the seniors we lost last year and with the competition we face this year, that would really be something.

The Nova athletic site lists the game as in the Wachovia center villanova.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/090408aaf.htmlAnd the UConn site lists the game being in Hartford www.uconnhuskies.com/AllStories/MBasketball/2008/09/04/UConn_0809_Men.pdfAnd the PC site lists their game as the 11th, not the 10th friars.cstv.com/auto_pdf/p_hotos/s_chools/prov/sports/m-baskbl/auto_pdf/schedrelease09My guess is that the PDF we released is simply wrong

I'm not sure the schedule GUHOYAS put up is correct with regards to locations.
The nova website says that the game is at the Wachovia center
and Uconn's website says the game is in Hartford.
Hopefully it's just a mistake on our part and the schools didn't change the locations. I don't know why they would. Georgetown's going to be a big draw so it would make sense for these teams to play us off campus to sell more tickets.
