There are plenty of thread where each side criticizes the other. And certainly some criticisms are warranted on both sides, but let's try to have just one thread where we praise the strengths of a candidate rather than point out the weaknesses in the opponent.
Either side, whether it's McCain-Palin or Obama-Biden, what have you to say to support your candidate?

One thing I like about McCain is that I think the Country needs to be more in the middle. I think we are getting too polarized as a Nation and I don't think that is a good thing. I think that McCain will be anxious to work with those on both sides of the political aisle.
Secondly, McCain has shown the interest to develop alternative energy sources. While I don't subscribe to the fearmongering of the doom of global warming, I do think that investments in renewable energy sources is a wise move.
Thirdly, I do think that it is important to recognize that National Security is very important in todays global economy. And I know that McCain understands this as well.

I love how you title this "Only Positive Support Thread" and then attack "fearmongering of the doom of global warming".

I love how you title this "Only Positive Support Thread" and then attack "fearmongering of the doom of global warming". I presume you are kidding, but just in case you really are that dense, the point is only positive support for the candidates rather than saying negative things about their opponent. That should have been clear. WRT that particular comment, my point was that McCain is not rigorously tied to the typical right wing view here. He is in favor of more drilling and expanded nuclear energy. But he is also in favor of funding and exploration of other sources, such as solar and wind. Not that I am of the extreme view of impending doom of the catastrophic effects of global warming, but as I have said all along, I find such a view to be both wise and prudent.

Hey, did you hear that Sarah Palin opposed the $400M bridge to nowhere and that she put the previous governor's plane up for sale on eBay?
Just doing my part.

Nice to hear Obama has the disaffected bigot vote locked up.
P.S. I'm quite sure you'll never have the opportunity to evict Ms. Palin from your pullout sofa.

Boy, why did I ever think this thread would work?
tonydealsmoregarbage with this half-truth:
Might as well tell em that she did indeed thke the money but used it for other state expenditures ...
Presumably, you are still talking about the money earmarked for the bridge. In point of fact, all she had to do was ask and she would have received $389 Million in federal funding for the bridge. But she rejected the locally popular project. She did receive $27 Million in funding for an approach road to the area. That's not exactly "still getting the money," now is it?

deals, you are the one unable to carry on any sort of a debate. When you throw out the crap as you do continually, it is natural for someone to respond in kind. Try to make a real point, rather than "blah blah blah, McSame" and "old white dude, blah blah blah," and I am sure that Elvado will be willing to have reasonable discourse as well.

The man whose reaction to Sarah Palin is to discuss whether you'd kick her out of bed wants to lecture on intelligent posts.
Self-knowledge is in short supply in this world.

I think you are smart enough to see what this thread was intended to be. I am not the one who ran it off in some random direction. Egads, that's not someone else doing the dreaded hijack thing ... In any case, the silence from the left is deafening. There isn't one single post highlighting Obama's strengths or detainling why anyone is supporting him. Coincidence? I think not.

deals, I think we are arguing semantics. As I understand it, she didn't give back the money they had already received. I would expect that much if not all of those funds had already been allocated if not spent. But my point was she didn't take the nearly $400 million that she could have. As I indicated, she did receive $27 million in federal funding. That is probably the "tens of millions" that Reuters mentions.

deals, I need a better link than that if that is what you are suggesting. If you are saying that she received nearly $400 million and only spent some $27 million and obsconded with the rest, then I would think that story probably would have surfaced a time or two since then.

I read that the $27 for the road could only be used for the road. If it wasn't, it would have to be returned to the Feds. The other money could be used on other infrastructure projects, so Alaska spent in on other projects. As I understand it...

kc, well then that makes a good bit more sense. I knew there was no way that some $360 million was missing and no one was talking more about it.
So essentially, she exercised her executive decision makinjg to determine how to best and most efficiently and effectively spend tax payer dollars to maximize the benefits to the citizens. Well that sounds like a decent person to lead a city, state or a country. Contrarily (and yes, I know I am violating the intent of the thread, but since no one else wants to play by the rules either ...) Obama goes to the biggest and arguably most corrupt big city political machine and ingratiates himself with them. Then he becomes a "community organizer," which is nothing but a name for a political busy body. He then talks to the made man and convinces him to make him a state senator. Well, now I certainly see how he is really going to shake things up in Washington. Man, he'll change things alright. Yeah, right.

First point -- the BILLIONS of federal dollars going to Alaska every fiscal year are not tracked in any meaningful way at any level.
Second point -- hifi, you are the one with the thin candy shell.

So the federal government just send a big check to Alaska every year and that's it? No one has no idea what happens to the money after that? That's makes a lot of sense.
