Georgetown's official dorm rules still prohibited overnight visitors of the opposite sex as of the late 90s. I don't know if they still do, but keeping crap like that on the books and failing to enforce it is just as ludicrous as CUA's silliness.
Which brings me to a delightful bit of bar trivia... I didn't believe it until a Notre Dame alum showed me in their 2006-07 student code of conduct handbook that premarital sex is an expellable offense. Not just hanky-panky in the dorms or shenanigans while on spring break, but they can't ever acknowledge that one time, in band camp, when they were high school sophomores....
Yep, officially, every single Fighting Irish is a virgin, pure as the driven snow.

"Georgetown's official dorm rules still prohibited overnight visitors of the opposite sex as of the late 90s. "
You sure about that? They sure forgot to ever mention that to us in New South in the fall of 95. I would have remembered. Coming from boarding school I remember being amazed that there were no rules whatsoever on who could be in your room and what you could do to her. I miss college.
How can you even contemplate having a rule like that where men and women live on the same floor?

Yeah, I'm with thebin. Overnight guests were definitely ok in the late 90's when I was in school.

And I do remember being lectured about the rules. Beers were not OK, had to be hidden. Not naked women. Memory is clear as a bell on that. And our proctor or whatever you call it was not cool at all, so I'm pretty sure he would have mentioned it if it was on the books.

I was on a co-ed floor as well, starting in 1995.

If an RA came into the room, you hid your beer behind your back. If you were heading into your room with a girl and saw your RA, you said hi.

I didn't say it was enforced or that any RAs even knew that it existed. It was spelled out in either your occupancy agreement or one of the many small-print annexes that came with it that virtually no one ever read.
While the "Georgetown University Housing Policies and Procedures" are not available online, the following is on the ResLife site:
****************************************** According to Category A20 of the Student Code of Conduct, "A resident’s privilege to have a guest in the room may not interfere with a roommate’s right to privacy, sleep and quiet study space. Overnight visits should only occur on a limited and infrequent basis not to exceed three (3) consecutive nights and only with the consent of the others sharing the room/apartment.
Cohabitation, which is defined as overnight visits with a sexual partner, is incompatible both with the Catholic character of the University and with the rights of the roommates." ******************************************
I suspect the gay rights gang successfully got "opposite sex" changed to "sexual partner" at some point because it definitely used to refer to non-same sex overnight visits.

Which makes the rule unenforceable. There's no practical way for the University to prove you are sexually active with your opposite sex guest.

Thanks, DFW.
I kinda' forgot over the last few weeks that it was possible to have discussion topics other than McCain, Obama, Palin, Biden, Iraq or the election.

I'm just not sure that rises to the level of a "rule." That's awfully passive and suggestive language.

yea, as a current student, the only 2 restrictions on guests that i'm aware of currently on the books are exactly what rosslynhoya cited: the 3 consecutive nights rule and the "cohabitation" line. (plus the even more vague and unenforceable "permission/rights of the roommates" language.)
that's not to say that it's EVER enforced or even discussed by RAs or anybody else. i was just aware of it b/c i remember reading it buried somewhere in the stuff we got before freshman year, maybe in the "New Student Guide".

I conducted extensive research into the issue of opposite-sex cohabitants in GUs dorms in the late 90s (all in the name of science of course) and was aware of no such rule.
Ah CUA ..... the rules are so off in la-la land at that school. I thought I couldn't find a more booze-fueled, upstanding-student-by-day-but-horndog-by-night undergrad student body than GU. Lo and behold, it was just across town in NE.

Rosslyn, okay, I do remember being told about the co-habitation rule -- the 3 days out of 7 rule -- but not the "no sex" part.
Basically it was told to me as part of a "You have a roommate. Don't be an ass about it." Thankfully, my roommate had no game and therefore I was able to sleep in my room at will.
