For some reason, this is what I think of when I picture hifi: either that, or this:

Is that Muschamp to Auburn confirmed? On the local show they have mentioned it as an unconfirmed report. I have said all along that it made the most sense. I, for one, am not especially thrilled to have him back in the SEC. The guy is a damn good coach and I'd have preferred he stayed out of the way over in Texas.
As for the Syracuse guy, all I caught was that he was a former Cuse graduate and a defensive coach from the Saints staff.

For anyone who missed the awards show last night:
Andre Smith won the Outland Trophy award (interior lineman) Nick Saban won National Coach of the Year Colt McCoy won the Walter Camp (player of the year) Tim Tebow won the Maxwell award (outstanding player) Maulelaga(sp?) won the Bednarik award (defensive player) Shonn Green won the Doak Walker award (running back) Graham Gano won the Lou Groza award (kicker) Sam Bradford won the Davey O'Brien award (quarterback) Malcom Jenkins won the Jim Thorpe award (defensive back)
I never saw it awarded, but I heard on the radio that Aaron Curry (linebacker from Wake Forest) won the Butkus award

Correction for the Syracuse job: it's apparently D. Maroney, former Offensive coordinator for the Saints.

It's crap that King Louie [Sadoka] didn't get either the Ray Guy or the Lou Groza award. Of course, it tells you something that he was up for both awards. Not bad for a walk-on. Hopefully he takes it out on Alabama.

College football awards are so ridiculous. "Let's have 18 different Player of the Year awards so we can make sure everyone gets one and so his NFL team will have something to put in his player bio next season."
How about ONE award for player of the year, ONE award for best offensive player and ONE award for best defensive player. For all of these positional awards....what's wrong with the All American team?
And what the @#$%# is the "Most Inspirational Player" Award?
Please tell me that is one of those dumb "fan voting" awards. Might as well call it the Dan Ruetteger Award.
Too bad ESPN had to pre-empt poker reruns for that nonsense.

The particular wording, gave the impression not that simply they were both coaches, but that they were similar coaches. I'm not sure if it was intentional or just came out wrong, but it jumped out at me both times I heard that particular interview.

The particular wording, gave the impression not that simply they were both coaches, but that they were similar coaches. They are contemporaries to some degree--Corso got his start as head coach at Louisville in the early 1970's while Bowden was at his first I-A head coaching job at West Virginia. Also, owing to Corso's notoriety with FSU football, they've crossed paths often during the years.

So it looks like Auburn picked a real winner with their fans. There's a great YouTube video that shows someone yelling nonstop at Auburn's AD. What really gets me is the Turner Gill thing. You're a great coach who's made Buffalo competitive in the MAC. Can't you do better than a school that clearly makes dumb decisions?

So it looks like Auburn picked a real winner with their fans. Charles Barkley is calling the pick racist, athough I think for it to qualify as such you'd have to pick NOT the least qualified white coach out there. Paging RuskyHoya...

There can't be any question that this guy's stellar performance at Iowa St. paved the way for the Auburn job.

Buff, let's not look at the bad side. Let's look at the silver lining. You are very happy to still have Turner Gill. I am very happy for Auburn to NOT have Tubberville or Gill. But most importantly, I am ecstatic for them to have .... I don't even know his name ... something like Grizlik. I can just see this conversation between the Athletic Director of Auburn and their biggest boosters:
"Here's my plan: we are going to run off one of our 3 or 4 best coaches ever while Alabama has recently signed Nick Saban to $5 million a year. We will then steal the coach from "mighty" Iowa State! He will jump at the offer to come here. Heck, he was "only" 5-9, just 10 short games ago. But he did lose all ten since then!"
"Gee Billy Bob, that sounds like a hellofaplan! (while reaching for his gun ...)"
