tinyurl.com/63clv5National TV appearances include their opening game in the Old Spice Classic vs. Michigan St. (with the remaining two games TBA but presumed to be broadcast nationally), a home game against Michigan in the B10/ACC challenge (on ESPNU - limited penetration), home-and-away vs. UNC & Duke, home against BC, @ Clemson, @ UVA, @ga Tech & @ NC St. (though the last two are on Fox SportsNet - also limited penetration).
They probably draw one of the tougher ACC schedules, playing UNC, Duke, UVA, Miami & GA Tech twice. OOC, the OSC & B10/ACC challenge are their only major-conference games (though Michigan is still struggling to rebuild under Beilein); other teams on their 30-game schedule (maxed out to help them get wnough victories for a bid - not that this helped the 'Cuse in recent years) include:
07-08 RPI / Team / Comment
201 / Bucknell / Regular challenger for the Patriot automatic NCAA spot coming off a down year
227 / Youngstown State / Filler
187 / Vermont / Regular challenger for the America East automatic NCAA spot coming off a mediocre year
185 / GW / BB&T - still seriously struggling after several successful campaigns in prior years
207 / Delaware St. / Filler
87 / American / Could be considered a challenge, having knocked off the Terps at Comcast last year
N/A / Bryant / WHO? - Oh, yeah - this small college from Rhode Island will be making its D-I basketball debut this fall...
208 / Elon / Regular Southern Conference whipping-boy for UNC-Greensboro, College of Charleston and ... wait for it ... Davidson
73 / Charlotte / Decent team still adjusting to life in the A-10; return game of a home-and-away that UMD won in close fashion last year in the Terps only regular-season OOC away game (though the CBE tournament game against Missouri was in Kansas City)
135 / Morgan St. / Good campaign last year; lost a close one at the Comcast Center
The rub: they play NO away games OOC, with neutral games at the OSC & the BB&T being their only games outside the friendly confines of the Comcast Center.
Their 14 games against 11 opponents who made the postseason are:
NCAA - UNC, @unc, Duke, @duke, Miami, @miami, Clemson, Michigan St., American
NIT - Virginia Tech, Florida St, Charlotte, Morgan St.
CBI - UVA
They will play another against either Gonzaga (NCAA) or Oklahoma St (NIT) in the second round of the OSC and may get yet another in their third game, depending on the results.
