Where are their criteria? It'd be interesting to see how they came up with these.

Forbes are also the people who declared San Diego the worst place to live -- but of course their study forgot to factor in weather, which is kind of an important thing.

Get this -- one criteria was people listed in Who's who. Really, you're ranking on dumbass jackasses who place their own name in a book to feel self-important? Okey-doke.

Hey it rained today (for about five minutes until the sun came out), which was the worst thing that happened since like May 23 (other than that 72 degrees/75% humidity thing going on last week). Life's too short to put up with conditions like that.

If Georgetown weren't a USNews Top 25 school, applications would drop by half, if not more.
This new ranking is the most serious threat to the university since BC left the Big East. This aggression will not stand.

If Georgetown weren't a USNews Top 25 school, applications would drop by half, if not more. What evidence is there of this? Boston College is out of the top 25 and receives over 12,000 more applications than Georgetown. The real threat lies ahead in demographics. High school graduates from the Northeast are expected to begin a significant decline after 2010. The growth markets are south and west, many areas which Georgetown has yet to capitalize on.

Isn't California the most represented state at Gtown? I know that at a Jesuit high school admittedly in LA in the early 90s, Gtown was basically thought of as Harvard or Princeton.

This is my favorite part:
76 Georgetown University DC 51,466 1,582 77 University of Notre Dame IN 46,727 1,991 78 Nebraska Wesleyan University NE 29,592 439 79 College of the Holy Cross MA 46,702 721 80 Duke University NC 47,975 1,700 81 Johns Hopkins University MD 48,992 1,206 82 Emory University GA 46,956 1,235
First Nebraska Wesleyan somehow landed itself in the middle of a list of great schools. Second, while I don't have much love for ND or Duke as far as basketball goes, I appreciate the quality schools they are. So this list to me looks like 6 top 25 schools...AT LEAST top 35-40. And here we are, clustered down at 76-82. Very odd.

Everyone is trying to get a piece of the college-ranking action but has to have a gimmick to differentiate themself from U.S. News. And
As far as the big one goes--and, honestly, it has a lot of holes too--I don't suppose anyone has any kind of an in at U.S. News and might know where we're ranked? Every year this makes me extremely nervous.

Honestly, anybody who picks their college off of a rankings list is setting themselves up for a miserable college experience.
The person who had one of the worst college experiences among my friends was the one who went to the highest ranked college. It's all about fit.
