I think I posted this a couple of years ago, but I'm not positive. In any case, this is a great program. Basically you can "adopt" a serviceman or woman that is stationed overseas. They really appreciate it. My wife and I sponsored a soldier who is now back living in Texas and I had kind of forgotten about it until I stumbled onto the original link. It doesn't cost anything to sign up, and what you spend on stuff to send the soldier is up to you, but I can tell you that they really do appreciate it. I think we sent packages every month and a half or two, and probably spent between ten and twenty dollars on average. Aside from hard candy and snacks that ship well, like Pringles, white tube socks were always very appreciated. In any case, it is a good cause and a way you can actually see some good come about from your efforts. I am always leery of most "charitable" efforts, in so much as you never know how much of the donations ever actually make it to the front lines, but I can vouch for this service. www.adoptaussoldier.org/
