After the last abortion, I have high, HIGH hopes for this Weezer album.
The first couple singles are pretty good. Nothing will ever be Blue again (especially since my dreams of Matt Sharp re-joining the band almost certainly will never be realized), but Red could be a nice throwback.
(Good interview in Spin this month by the Weezer gents too)
Weezer's always had great videos.

Victory for Boz- I just got a banner ad for Rivers Cuomo's outtakes CD in another thread (Austin Rivers?- strange), and now I get one for the new Weezer album here.

Not a victory for Weezer though. A couple tracks aside (& some pretty good Pinkerton-esque bonus tracks), the album is a failure, for the most part.
I may not even see them tour this time around (if they do tour). That will be a first.
The lesson of Rivers Cuomo's gradual but steady decline in songwriting ability?
....never go to school, never fall in love, never get married.

C'mon Boz, he obviously lost his mind and his abilities from his prolonged celibacy gig. No good can come out of something like that.

I feel I should personally do what I can to make musicians I like unhappy, because apparently angst fuels all the good stuff. Some Cracked.com list once complained about songs about how California is phony, because it signaled that the band was too rich and happy to have any normal problems to write about.
