Ewing not likely headed to Knicks as Asst

New York Coach Mike D'Antoni says Magic assistant coach Patrick Ewing, credited with helping sharpen the play of Orlando all-star center Dwight Howard this season, isn't expected to be on his Knicks coaching staff when he finishes selecting it.

Newsday, citing a person with knowledge of the situation, said Ewing is upset that new Knicks President of Basketball Operations Donnie Walsh did not get in touch with him when Walsh was searching for a head coach for the team.

Ewing, who also has worked with the Houston Rockets' Yao Ming on former coach Jeff Van Gundy's staff, would like to become the head coach of an NBA team. Magic Coach Stan Van Gundy had recommended before D'Antoni was hired that the Knicks consider Ewing for their head-coaching job.

I would love to see Sr. as a NBA coach, I think that he would be able to do a very good job (as long as he got a Center and players to get that center the ball).

A mistake for D'Antoni to not hire Sr. (although I guess the styles at which the two approach center are a bit different)
