...on Jeopardy. Some girl from Marquette is currently handing it to a GU student, but we're only 10 minutes in. James Grant better represent here.

I had to look this up, but unless there is a Rip Hamilton versus Ray Allen battle in the Eastern Conference Finals, there aren't actually any (significant) Big East showdowns left, so we better win this Jeopardy thingy

Gtown kid got worked, but lucked into second when one of the two girls who were ahead of him by 15k each missed the final jeopardy question. Marquette girl was the big winner with over $40k. If she keeps that average up I'm guessing she'll be Editeded that all you can win is a $100k scholarship. Of course it was taking place in wisconsin, so she had the homecourt advantage. Gtown dude's $11k in winnings puts him on the bubble for an at large spot.

The last time I saw us on college jeopardy, which I think was like summer '05, we got handled too. Not sure why we can't make a good showing, we need to get our best out there to represent.

Good for him. I can imagine it must be nerveracking to actually have to stand there on camera and try to come up with the answers. It's much easier loafing out on the couch. Must be a pretty cool experience. Congrats to James.

Things are looking good for James. After three days he's currently slotted in the second of four wildcard spots with only four contestants left with a chance to knock him out.
BTW, I'm quite impressed with Chainsaw McGee. Not many ladies possess the combination of rugby player, jeopardy champion and college hoops internet board poster.

It's an open secret on campus that he makes it to next week.

Can anybody explain how this works/what's going on for someone who's out of the country?

I hate college jeopardy. My Tivo picks up jeopardy every day (which allows me to watch it in about 15mins, awesome), but I don't even bother with college, b/c every answer is ridiculously easy.
That's also b/c I am a genius. I guess this is as good a place as any to reveal it.
I'll go back to chinaman jokes about Fukodome in the Cubs thread now. Later dummies.

There are 15 contestants. The first week there are three new contestants per show, with the five winners and four top scoring others moving on to the next round. Those nine then play three games. The winners of each game advance to the final two shows. They play two games (one on TV Thursday, one on Friday) and whoever wins the most over two games wins the whole thing.
