I guess you cheer for LVille to beat ND as ND's remaining schedule is pretty soft. We then get a shot to beat LVille and if we finish 2-0, win the BE outright.

Yeah, I think we better hope ND loses, because after tonight, they have a better chance to get to 15-3 than anyone.
I have a feeling ND will get smoked in this one. This is a bad matchup for them. Too much toughness and speed on L'ville's defense.

This is the only game that matters besides our own until the BET. Maybe Pitino needs to break out another white mafia suit. Go Cards!

Oh we're Cardinals fans for sure. They win and it all comes down to 3/8 no matter what happens against Marquette.

huh, I assumed that we were going to want ND to win, but it seems like louisville win is better for us. If we win out, we get the #1 seed in the BET no matter what. But if ND also wins out we have to share our regular season banner with them. We need to beat marquette on saturday and louisville on the 8th or it doesn't matter who wins tonight. a louisville win tonight, means it's a two team race for the title.

Go Louisville!!!!!
I see a 4 way tie atop the Big East. GU, ND, UConn and Louisville all with 4 losses. I believe we would win the mini-conference tie break with our 3-1 record. This assumes we lose to MU and beat Louisville.

Isn't this just for sake of arguing who gets the #1 seed for the BET? If we finish 15-3 tied with ND or 14-4 tied with Louisville, don't we still "share" the BE regular season championship?

Yes we "do." Although the way I think about it is the team that won the regular season is the one in first place when the regular season ends. So whatever the Big East handbook says, the #1 seed is the regular season champ.

If we win out, the number one seed is ours. In addition, if Louisville beats ND tonight, we Champs all alone. If ND wins, we are still the number one seed, but are only co-champs with ND assuming they win out.

Oh we're Cardinals fans for sure. They win and it all comes down to 3/8 no matter what happens against Marquette. Please explain why. What tiebreaker do the Hoyas hold over the Cardinals? If we lose to Marquette and Cardinals beat ND and lose to Hoyas both teams would have 4 losses.

asssuming uconn also wins out there would be 4 teams tied at 4 losses. So we'd be 3-1, Louisville would be 2-2, ND would be 1-3, Uconn would be 2-2. there fore we win.

Yeah, the only tiebreaker situation that could bite us is with L'ville - if we lose to Marquette and Marquette slides in front of ND and UConn, meaning UCONN and ND would have to have some other bad losses.
In that case, the 2nd tiebreaker with L'ville would be wins against Marquette, which we would lose.

Current Standings Gtown 13-3 Louis 12-3 ND 11-3 UConn 11-4
Remaining schedule: GU – (@ Marq, Louis) UConn – (WV, @ Prov, Cincy) Louis – (ND, Nova, @ Gtown) ND – (@ Louis, @ Depaul, St. J, USF)
You have to like ND’s schedule best after tonight. They are 11-3. Win tonight and they’re very likely to finish 15-3. Lose and it’s 14-4. If they win tonight, we'd have to win out to even tie (and would then win the tiebreaker).
After that, I like UConn’s schedule. They get WV and Cincy at home and they should be able to beat Providence. That’s 14-4 too.
The way to get to a 4-way tie would be: - Lousiville wins tonight but loses to us - We lose on the road Saturday, but then beat Louisville - ND loses tonight and wins out - UConn wins out
You would do a “mini-conference” judging how the teams did against one another:
Gtown 3-1 (W Uconn and ND, Split Louis) Louis 2-2 (W ND, L Uconn, Split Gtown) UConn 2-2 (W Louis, L Gtown, Split ND) ND 1-3 (L Gtown and Louis, Split UConn)
OK, and let’s say that UConn somehow lost one of their last 3 and now it’s only a 3-team mini-conference:
Gtown 2-1 (W ND, Split Louis) Louis 2-1 (W ND, Split Gtown) ND 0-2 (L to both)
Then we’d go to performance against top-ranked teams (assuming even number of games): - 3rd place – both teams beat ND - 4th place – under this scenario, it would be UConn with 5 losses (they would win tiebreaker over Marquette due to head-to-head win) – Gtown beat UConn, Louisville lost to them
So basically if Louisville wins tonight and we beat Louisville next Saturday (regardless of how we do against Marquette), we should be the #1 seed in the BET.

Ok, let me make sure I understand something: if we win out, we are the #1 seed, regardless of what happens, and even if every other team wins as many as possible, right?
So then we control our own destiny. Forget about ND/Ville, UConn, and Marquette. We need to win these last two games, which are our last two chances in the regular season to (1) pick up a quality road win and (2) pick up a quality home win. If we lose either game, we don't deserve the #1 seed.

If we lose either game, we don't deserve the #1 seed. Yes we do because we'd still be 14-4 in a ridiculously deep conference. But if we win the next 5, we probably will have beaten something like RPI 15, 12, 25, 21, and 12 in a row which would have a very good chance of landing us on the #1 line in the NCAAs.

2) we already beat Uconn and ND at home. Those are quality wins. Cuse is also a pretty good win too. You're right about 1.

Sharing was cool in nursery school. However, let's be honest. The kid that refused to share got to get to drink from the water fountain the longest and had the best blanket for naptime. Losers share. Winners take.

I believe they were quality wins, too -- but let's face it, at the time we beat them they weren't quite as well-respected then as they are now, so many will not give us the credit we really deserve for beating them. Let's face it, this season we have not actually played a ranked team at home yet. I don't care what the pundits say, but big picture it would help to beat L'ville at home.

Also, even if we win out through the BET I doubt we get a one seed since there are 7 legit teams ahead of us in line: Tenn Mem UCLA Duke UNC Kansas Texas I'd be happy with a two seed. Actually I'd be happy with sweep of the BE and the BET regardless of how they seed us. Go Cards! For one night only!
