"Nader vociferously disputes the spoiler claim, saying only Democrats are to blame for losing the race to George W. Bush. He said Sunday there could be no chance of him tipping the election to Republicans because the electorate will not vote for a "pro-war John McCain."
"If the Democrats can't landslide the Republicans this year, they ought to just wrap up, close down, emerge in a different form," Nader said."
I do not believe that Ralph has a sane view of the American electorate

I seriously doubt that Nader himself actually has a smattering of thought that he can actually win. Maybe he has long range plans at a serious run in years to come, or maybe he has aspirations for a position in the next administration. More likely though, he is just trying to give a voice to a group of people in hopes of legislation in the future that might benefit said group.

How does he have the resources to run in every election since 1996?

Nader is an idiot who has at best seriously tarnished and at worst destroyed his legacy. He's also FOS as to 2000.

Nader has an ego the size of Montana.

What kind of support is he hoping to get? I think most of the people who would support a Nader candidacy are already supporting Obama and will continue to, especially young, liberal, and/or progressive independent voters who remember 2000 all too well.

Nader has an ego the size of Montana. That was one option I didn't list, and I think you might have hit the nail on the head. In fact, "egomaniac" was the word our friendly local bartender used.
