It seems to me that we've been rebounding much better over the last so many games. Have we? Opponent | Oreb% | OppAvg | OReb Index | OppOreb% | OppAvg | Dreb Index | GU Season Avg | 33.9 | | | 32.9 | | | -------- | | | | | | | Syracuse | 16.9 | 32.4 | 52 | 39.8 | 38.3 | 104 | West Virginia | 38.8 | 30.3 | 128 | 32.8 | 34.2 | 96 | St. John's | 44.4 | 21.7 | 205 | 42.2 | 33.9 | 124 | Seton Hall | 53.2 | 36.7 | 145 | 16.7 | 33.7 | 50 | South Florida | 44.2 | 33.2 | 133 | 17.5 | 35.2 | 50 | Louisville | 22.8 | 30.2 | 75 | 28.6 | 33.5 | 85 | Villanova | 20.3 | 32.1 | 63 | 35.2 | 36.6 | 96 | Syracuse | 34.3 | 32.4 | 106 | 43.1 | 38.3 | 113 | Providence | 51.8 | 35.0 | 148 | 21.8 | 36.7 | 59 | Cincinnati | 23.2 | 29.5 | 79 | 29.7 | 33.0 | 90 |

The above table compares our rebounding performance to our opponents' averages -- so it doesn't give us extra credit because Seton Hall sucks at rebounding and it takes into account that Cincy is a very good defensive rebounding team, for example.
High indexes are good on the left, bad on the right.
Good games for us: West Virginia, SJU (most of their O rebounds came late if I remember), Seton Hall, South Florida and Providence.
Bad Games: Win versus Syracuse, win versus Nova.
Middle of the Road: Loss to Cuse, Loss to Louisville, Cincy win.
That's a pretty big improvement in my mind. We're far from an elite rebounding team, but it's not a consistent weakness. (If you're comparing to least year, our D rebounding is right there; our O rebounding last year was elite).

was the o rebounding last year so good because our effective field goal percentage was so good, leading to few rebounds to be had?

There's a variety of reasons -- much of it had to do with Jeff. Aside from him being a very good offensive rebounder, he also improved Roy. When people doubled him on the block, Roy cleaned up a LOT of Jeff's misses.

i see,
during the cincy game, while i was watching at verizon so i didnt have the help of real time stats, i felt like we were doing an ok job of rebounding but it seems i was wrong but i though we did an excellent of limiting their points off of offensive rebounds

High indexes are good on the left, bad on the right. SF: could you expand on this at all? I'm a bit confused on how the indexes are calculated.

They appear to be percentages based off the number of offensive rebounds and offensive rebounds allowed on average by the opponent. In other words, on the right the "index" is our offensive rebound percentage divided by their average, so high is good. The right side is the opposite (ORs allowed divided by opponents' average OR), so low is good.
