Kudos to Jon, Roy, Patrick, and Tyler for leading the team to victory..... JRivers was steady...... but we need Summers, Sapp, and Freeman to score to win through the tourneys...
Freeman is to small to play forward, so start PEwing and rotate Sapp and Freeman at shooting guard......... whoever gets hots and drives plays.... the other sits..... Rivers spells Wallace, Tyler and Macklin get some minutes, and play Dajuan at small forward...

(Especially without a stud rebounder at the 4 or 5. A team like UConn with Thabeet could get away with a 3 guard) Small forward is Dujaun's natural position and he plays alot better when he doesn't have to do the rebounding chores. Also, I think MacKlin is a natural 4. He plays much better alongside Hibbert and can utilize his skill set. Unfortunatley, He's needed for the 2nd unit at Center by default. Next year with Monroe at Center, Macklin should really blossom at the 4.

Next year with Monroe at Center, Macklin should really blossom at the 4. Monroe is a PF. One of the reasons cited for turning down Duke was their stated intention to play him at C instead of at PF, where he sees his future. Macklin will play C next year with Sims.

Crawford is no bigger than Freeman and Macklin realistically is only going to get minutes when Roy sits (if that). So, that means we have to have a smaller SF for a decent amount of the game unless you want "Dujuan" and Ewing to play 40 minutes each.
Freeman's problem lately has been offense, in any case (although I thought he was OK today) - opposing SFs haven't done a disproportionate amount to hurt us and there aren't that many much bigger than Austin anyway.

I would just like to point out that while I think this might have been a factor, Monroe has never said this. Neither has Monroe's coach. No one really said even if Duke said he'd play the 5. All of Monroe's quotes have revolved around fit and comfort. What you are "citing" is merely "analysis" by people on message boards, to my knowledge. I might have missed an article on Monroe, but I doubt it. Furthermore, our "5" is different than Duke's "5". Jeff played a lot of center here, and he wasn't stuck inside.

This may work in some cases, but our depth inside goes out the window. We are really hurt by not having one more guy who can give us minutes at the 4 or 5 spot. It throws a lot of things off and makes us play guys out of position too much. It may be worth a shot in games and then if the situation demands we go with our "3-guard" lineup, we do it. Either way though, I think we will see a lot of the 3-guard, as we need our big guys rotating in and out to spell each other.

If you think our press break is bad with Jon and Jessie back there, it will be that much worse with Austin as the 2 guard. Love the kid's guts and his scoring ability, but I don't think his ball handling is a strength of his game yet.

I actually think his ball handling is more thanokay, especially considering he's a freshman. Sapp's is of course better but I don't think Wallace is that much better at ball handling. Austin will have to play the 2 at the next level anway, there's no way he could play the 3 in the NBA at 6-4.

If we are pressed by a team next year, I would guess it will be Jessie and Chris Wright who will be breaking it. The two of them with (hopefully) an improved Summers and a guy like Monroe at the 4 spot should help us a GREAT deal in breaking the press.

We will have an athletic team and not as many one dimensional players. (with the improvement of Macklin, Rivers and Wallace graduating). In fact people will probalby give up pressing agaisnt us.
