I realize it is not likely to rank with some of these other classics since it didnt have the importance of many but one of my two favorites (the other being the BET upset win in 2000 that has been discussed) was Feb 7th, 1994 at the crap centre in Landover. Hoyas win 60-56 over No. 14 Syracuse. The only time in my four years that we rushed the court.
After trailing early the hoyas jumped on Othella's back and he won the game. He had 27 and made three of four free throws in the final 10 seconds when the game was in doubt.
But the best part was watching the cocky and classless Lawrence Moten choke several times. He missed an open 15-footer with 19 seconds left and then a pair of foul shots with 5.2 seconds left that would have tied the game.
least favorite is easily the loss to them in the BET semi's in 2006. that is going to be a tough one to get over.

2000 BET upset game is my fave. Lost my voice for like a week after that one. 'Nova lost that round, too, which made it all the better. Favorites: 1. 2000 Big East Tourney Quarters. Awesome game, awesome weekend, awesome watching Cuse players cry while bando & I did a lap around MSG drinking OJ and smoking stogies. a. Bonus: Nova's band having to wait another day to run the gauntlet. b. Double Bonus: Festival of Forties 2. 2002 Senior Day. Much needed win for that squad. And it was my senior year. 3. 2006 Senior Day. Our first win over Cuse in 4 years & a great way to honor the seniors who went through so much from 02-06. Extremely good atmosphere at the Booth. |
