I know who Georgetown's is - Austin Freeman. The assumption here is he continues to improve and, while points are of course shared and not in large quantity in GU's system, he will continue to lead the team in scoring on occasion and score big buckets on many occasions.
I think he has been flying under the radar a bit so far outside of Georgetown fans.
Any thoughts on his chances, and who are the other candidates from other teams?

Donte Green is a prohibitive favorite right now, I would think.

The dude from Pitt is the best that I've seen.

If we were voting on it today, I'd say Blair from Pitt. But, I think that if Austin has a showcase game and is steady throughout the BE schedule he can challenge for ROY.

Really, why am I the only one talking about Green? He is averaging 19.4, 8.1, and 2 blocks per game. Blair is having a good year too, but I suspect many people only saw his huge game against Duke.
I don't think Austin has much of a shot because he won't get the counting stats or the hype.

Probably because they're like me and haven't seen any/seen one or two Cuse games while practically everyone saw Blair's performance against Duke and rate him over Green for that reason.

blair has had the most impact as a freshman. that said... we've all witnessed freeman grow with each game. i wouldn't be surprised if sutin didn't share the honors with blair.

Too early. If we win the BE and BET, Austin wins or is a co-ROY.

the rest of our team is too good for austin to get it. green and blair's numbers are going to be superb because they are the go to scorers on their teams. besides, austin will win BE Player of the Year in two years if summers or monroe isn't on the team. and if summers and or monore is still on the team in two years, then we'll be talking about bringing in another national title. our future is so so bright. go hoyas!!!!

Sam Young might disagree that Blair is Pitt's go-to guy, but your point still stands. I do think Austin is becoming a go-to guy, but this team has plenty of options, esp. Roy in the post and Jon from 3. Situation is sort of like Jeff's, but he still managed to win BE POY, so that award is do-able down the road.

On the Louisville v. WVU broadcast last night, Len Elmore talked up Austin a few times. If he continues his improvement, whispers about him will grow into a loud din, and before you know it he can become a viable candidate. The Green comparison is apt, and I would even argue that because of Georgetown's success as a team (rather than a group of individuals) over the past several years, people really do notice how good players are who work so well with the Georgetown system. It's not something people care about so much early in the season, but as the BE season goes on and we get into the BET, people will see more and more value in a guy who fits so seamlessly as Austin. For that reason, I think that he stands a good chance despite the numbers being put up by some guys in systems that prize the individual more than our own.

Austin is a great player but there is no chance that he wins ROY, he can't do it in this offense and the other freshman, 'Cuse boys and Blair, are just too good.

Jeff did it in this "offense", so can Austin.
