Disappointing...
I grew up watching the Braves. Never liked them much, but between TBS and WGN, I could always catch a game of a team that I'd never really get to see in person.

I was kind of the same, although I pretty much adopted the Braves as my team. I grew up in the seventies and they, along with the Cubs on WGN were the only widely televised teams down in Florida. The thing I remember most was that I was a Braves fan either way, but boy did they suck. I mean they weren't mediocre, they were downright awful. They would lose 100 games almost every year. I still remember a lot of the names -- guys like Jerry Royster, Biff Pocoroba, Gary Matthews and Brian Asselstien. (Yes that is his real name.) Then as they got good the first time in the early 80's, I remember the Niekro brothers, Dale Murphy and his 2 MVP seasons, Bob Horner and his 4 homers in one game, Chris Chambliss and Claudell Washington among others. I am and will remain a Braves fan, but it isn't like it was in the old days.

not a braves fan, but remember watching 17 when i went to go see my grandparents, great grandma, and aunt in ohio, as cable had not come to dc @ that time.
we watched some games...i remember him saying chilie davis i believe could hit a home run and win the game (they were playing the braves i beleive..maybe he played for st louie?) anyway, he did...and my grandfather was like see, that guy is good.
we watched that in between showtime's 'racy' stuff.....hahahahahahahha...and me watching that stuntman bob or dave or whatever he was called. in my grandparents room.
i miss him.
enough of the hallmark moment.

It's been in the works for some time now, doesn't have anything to do with the Braves performance the past two years. TBS has been making a big push the last few years to become a more legit national cable network--more original programming, movies, etc. They've been slowly decreasing the number of Braves telecasts over the past 3-4 years as part of this--apparently Sex and the City gets better ratings on a Wednesday than Braves-Nats.
Of course the other part of this strategy is that this year TBS I believe has both LDS series and the NLCS.

Yeah, but I guarantee you that at some point I am going to miss it. That slow summer nights when there is so little going on, it sure was nice to put the Braves game on, pick up a good book and assume my spot on the couch. Id rarely make it to the end of the game, but I honestly didn't care. It was a relaxing night. Somehow it won't be the same with Sex and the City on the tube.

I'm a SuperStation bred Braves fan, too. End of an era. I watched part of a game last week--but it's just not the same with Chip Caray instead of Pete, Ernie Sr. and Skip. I turned it off after a couple innings. Favorite line from Skip, "Can't beat fun at the old ballpark." Any long time TBS watcher will know why. Favorite game I watched: the extra inning loss on July 4th (actually ended on July 5th) in 1980-something when pitcher Rick Camp hit a HR to re-tie the game which they lost in the next inning I believe.

Cam, I said a good book, not the good book. The book Cam was referring to was most certainly not the Bible, Hifi. And I might be alone on this, but I am not at all sad to see Braves games go. I would much rather at least have hope that I might be able to see a team I care about rather than have my Law & Order marathons interrupted every few days.

I had a hunch that was more the intention.
I did find this interesting:
In the novel King Dork by Frank Portman, the main characters briefly claim that their band's first album will be called Margaret? It's God. Please Shut Up.
Not being familiar with King Dork (well, aside from reading his posts on Hoyatalk), I had never hear that album title, but I like it.
