Donaghy called police Sunday to report he had been receiving death threats.
EDIT: The calls were from a cellphone and his home number that the calls were made to is unlisted.

We in the Justice Department are working dilligently to investigate this matter. Mr. Stern and fans of the NBA need not concern themselves with our methods or results.
Back to work, Citizens.

Is Stern saying anything worth talking about in his press conference?

Stern has zero charisma and is just waffling up at the mic. The NBA needs a commissioner right now that is going to re-instill trust into the league and he is clearly not that person.

I can't help but wonder if Stern will be able to survive this.
All of the sports websites are ablaze with conspiracy theories focusing on Game 3 of Spurs-Suns. Has there been any sign yet if Donaghy wagered on the game in addition to "reffing" it?

If Donaghy was in the pocket of organized crime, whether he personally bet on the game will be of very little consequence. The mob wouldn't want his action, anyway.

Sports business guru Kige Ramsey weighs in: EDIT: What happened to the good ol' days when Kige shot his segments in a Wal-Mart?!? i had no idea hifi was a titans fan... OK, you've got me at a loss. This antique computer here on dial-up isn't good for YouTubing it. So I can only presume that there is a handsome well dressed and well spoken individual in the video with some titan attire. I appreciate the compliment, but I do not have any Titan apparel at all.

I got a different take from the press conference. I thought that Stern showed how smart he is but he didn't have the controlled demeanor that he normally does. Was he "rattled" or "disturbed" or just cautious. I think it might be a little of each. He had to choose his words carefully weighing what he knew and could say along with what he knew but couldn't say. I actually enjoyed it for the most part.
He was very adament in saying that he didn't ref any games after they knew of the investigation and he all but said that it was one and only one ref, although he did have to skirt around the issue implying that the Feds were at least giving cursory reviews of other officials. If, this is certainly a questionable if, but if he is correct on those two issues, that it was solely Doneghy and that he didn't ref any games after they learned of the investigation, then I think he survives this. Only time will tell.

If Stern feels like he's in a tough spot, he should look at Max Mosley, the boss of Formula 1 racing.
At least Stern doesn't have to face the possibility of banning his sport's leading team for the season, and in doing so kicking the most popular athelete in the sport out of competition for the rest of the year. Mosley may end up doing just that in a few hours.

Between crooked refs, dog fights, doped bike riders, and now this--not to mention Bonds--I would say this has to rate as one of the worst sports summers ever.

Yeah, but when I feel down I just think about those 3 recent National Championship trophies. That always cheers me up.

F-1's got nothing on the Tour de France. Now that the F1 governing body has chickened out, the two are running pretty close. How on earth do you find somebody guilty of violating one of the most important rules in the sport, then decide not to punish them for it?

I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say that those trophies provide us with no solace. Up yours.

At this point, I'm just happy when ANYONE wins a trophy legitimately and preferably without torturing animals in the process.
The standards are really dropping at this point.
