Lunardi says he's 64 out of 65 each of the past five years. Obviously I haven't checked, but I have no reason not to believe him.

Also notice we aren't listed as one of the last 4 in. Nice.

I've followed Bracketology for a while and Lunardi is usually darned close. Again, the 64 out of 65 is based on his final bracket the morning of Selection Sunday. At that point, if you do the math, you pretty much know who is going and who is not, absent the occasional NCAA surprise. That being said, the Selection Sunday Bracketology article is the ONLY Bracketology article that even comes close to a cause for excitement. Everything else is just talk for Internet boards. We have to go out and continue to win games!

Agree! I was going to ask which version is the basis for the 64/65; I see it is the final one. I wonder how he has done with the mid-season ones the past two years?

I think the 8 seed probably reflects the fact that we are from a major conference. From what I've noticed over the years, anything below a 9 seed is either for a team that juuust gets in (random team winning big conference tourney, etc) or a mid major. Big Conference teams get 9 seeds or higher. actually TBird - this is not necessarily true bud - gtown got a 10 seed last time they were in the tourney - played 7-seed Arkansas - and we lost in the first round of the Big East tournament that year to SHU

I don't think he is trying to predict the final bracket. What he is saying is "If the season ended today, these would be the brackets."

exactly. if the season ended right this minute, we'd be in. there's obviously a very LONG way to go.
The interesting thing is, a loss to Syracuse still probably wouldn't knock us out. Need to pick up a split this week though.
I wish I had some faith in our home court advantage. You know there will be more ND fans than Gtown fans this weekend.

I don't think he is trying to predict the final bracket. What he is saying is "If the season ended today, these would be the brackets." But I was trying to find out how accurate his mid-season brackets have been in the past. But there is only one way for the Hoyas to get in and that is to continue this good play. If we are projected now, we have to keep on doing the same for the rest of the year. G0 HOYAS!

I don't think anyone keeps track of that Nevada.

Honestly...it's really not that tough to get it right. You have to assume only 30 at large teams and 27 of those are very obvious. The last four in and out are the key and you need to just get a couple right.
Let's just keep winning and things will work out for itself.

When my brother showed me the bracketology today- I seriously almost s*it myself. Amazing how far we've come from last year. I just hope we can make it through these next few weeks.. the last weeks will be a breeze.

Seriously, when would have been the last time we were projected to make the tourney? Anytime after the 2001 Sweet Sixteen run?

Lunardi also has Miami (Fla) as a seven seed. Is this possible? I know they beat Florida, but still...

Miami is 4-1 in the ACC and playing great right now. Thehy haven't had the toughest schedule in teh ACC and things will even out. Remember: This is not a projection. Just a "if the season end today" thing.
Just the fact we're in the discussion is frankly astonishing.
What people need to start talking about is JTIII as coach of the year in the Big East...and perhaps nationally.
I'm not kidding either. What we're witnessing is nothing short of amazing. We have 3 freshmen starting with one of those a walk on (albeit a good one). No senior starters either with only one in the rotation.
Plus, add in the fact that he's teaching these young players a VERY difficult offense to comprehend even for the smartest of players and it's truly unreal.
It took the Wizards over a year to teach the guys the motion offense. It took Sacramento years to comprehend it.
What we are witnessing is truly amazing.
Plus, every recruit in america is realizing that this offense isn't stifling at all. In fact, it's liberating and could lead to some serious scoring if you run it correctly.

FOTP what you have just said is very true. Now being very superstitous I suggest we all not talk about this fact again until he does win it (knock on wood).

Let's not get too carried away just yet. A young team like this is just as capable of dropping five, six, seven games in a row as it is to go out and beat Syracuse tomorrow night. I don't think its fair to raise the bar now for this team and start to let it creep into our heads that if the Hoyas fall short of the tourney going forward, that this is some kind of disappointment.

Big Dog-I totally agree. As of right now, the way things are going are beyond our wildest preseason dreams. I remember when most people thought I was crazy for thinking we could go 8-8 in the BE. Obviously, I desperately want the Hoyas to go to the tournament, but I still think the NIT is the realistic goal (though now I think we should be one of those so called bubble teams instead of a lock for the NIT). Remember, just last year, everyone was lamenting the death of Gtown hoops and predicting that even JT3 couldn't get us back to COMPETITIVE (not for the NCAA tournament but the BE tournament) for at least two years.
