Gottlieb, Magoo, Facility with Proximity Mines. No Oddjob. Ahh, the classic No Oddjob rule. He was always a crafty, sneaky little guy. Hard to hit, but when you did manage to connect with a shot, it was almost always to the head. Come to think of it, Oddjob's height would put him in great credit card snatching position. ?? Think you have this wrong, unless there's more than one Oddjob. The only one I know I was Goldfinger's henchman, played in the film by a former pro wrestler who went about 6'3"/250. The man with the steel-brimmed hat! Gottlieb IS Oddjob.

The man with the steel-brimmed hat! Way, WAY off. Oddjob was tiny. He was smaller than every character in that film, including Ms. Edited Galore. EDIT: Harold Sakata was only 5'8" and almost three full bills when they filmed Goldfinger. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Sakata

I can't remember if it was Mr. Fuji or Toro Tanaka. He was one of those types of wrestlers. I never knew he was that short. On a (somewhat) related note: "But you play a Slazenger 4, here is my ball, you must have played the wrong ball somewhere on the 18th fairway. We are playing strict rules, unfortunately you lose the hole, and the match."

Buff, what part were you reading?
Bond producers Harry Saltzman and Albert Broccoli took notice of Sakata because his heavy build--he stood 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) and weighed 284 lb (129 kg)--which when coupled with his intimidating gaze, made him the perfect choice for the part of Oddjob.

Buff must be thinking of Mini Me. All these spy movies tend to blend together after a while.
Never knew that Oddjob was an Olympic medalist.

However, I know my Bond and that bit of information is dead wrong. Have any of you actually SEEN Goldfinger? The guy is shorter than Connery (who happens to stand 6'2") and Gert Frobe/Auric Goldfinger (IMDB has him standing 6'1") by a significant margin. To wit: image.blog.livedoor.jp/solarproduction/imgs/e/f/efa9d4d9.jpgIf any of you think Odd Job was actually over six feet, you need to (a) rewatch Goldfinger, and (b) get your eyes checked. This is yet another instance of Wikipedia peddling shoddy information off as fact. I love the site, but it really needs stricter editing standards. Hell, this one article has Sakata listed at both 5'8" and 6'1"!!! What the hell?!? All that said, Odd Job wasn't nearly as short as depicted in the N64 classic, "GoldenEye."

Can we just get this thread back on topic?

I think you might have grounds to sue wikipedia. I think your reputation has been forever tarnished as someone who pulls sh!t out of he arse. You may never recover from it. For the record, I have heard of more ridiculouos lawsuits.

I didn't reopen the Wikipedia reference, but didn't it say that Oddjob was 5'8" in high school? Clearly, that isn't mutually exclusive with his being 6'1" as an adult.
In any event, this topic deserves a big W.

That said, I think the photographic evidence speaks for itself. With his hat on, Odd Job was barely 6'.

And, as those who dabble in gaming spheres would recall, Oddjob is about 2.5 feet tall in the video game Goldeneye.
The 'No Oddjob' rule comes from that game. In multiplayer mode, it was common to not allow players to play as Oddjob because he's so darn hard to kill.

Back to a reason to like Magoo. There is no reason ever to like him.
Mock him--Yes Berate him--Yes Thank God for his underachievement--Yes Make fun of his professional flops--Yes Remind him of Manley--Yes Remind him of '84--Yes
Like him--Never

I know this isn't germane to anything, but I can't help but ask. If the Goldeneye game is based upon the film Goldeneye, why is Oddjob a character in it?

All bond characters and villains of (most) of the movies up to that point are in the game, and whoever chose Oddjob would be punched and kicked repeatedly and forced to play as Jaws for the rest of the afternoon To tie this in to the original point, lets take a hint from SPECTER and let our adversaries fight amongst each other and then when the credit card theif and the life hatting d-bag are weary from the unholy battle, we swoop in and eat the survivors.

ALL WRONG!!! It's a British franchise, so therefore the evil organization is SPECTRE! (Magoo=Blofeld?)

That said, I think the photographic evidence speaks for itself. With his hat on, Odd Job was barely 6'. No, no, no! Don't suck me into your error. You made a rather emphatic statement and were actually doing so in a corrective manner to what another member said. You then posted a link to your "proof." My response was one of "belief" and "disbelief." I was surprised at your statement but still accepted it as accurate, and in fact stated so. Only upon reading your link did I see that Odd Job was the over 6 foot and nearly 300 pound behemeth. I am not going to split hairs, and if you had said that he was actually 5'11" and 200 pounds then I probably wouldn't have batted an eye. In any case, don't lump me in with your errors. Somehow you criticize my reading abilities because the very link that you posted stated that he was 6'1" and 284 pounds, and I said that I was surprised that he was the 5'8" midget that you suggested. You are right about one thing. Hoyarooter's reading skills exceed yours, but not (necessarily) mine.
