Now you are grasping at straws. To suggest that all I was doing was talking about the Gators when I responded to one of your guy's complaints about officiating by saying that it was the nature of basketball to feel that way, and therefore would be better saved for losses is ridiculous. By the way, did you know that our win over the Gamecocks coupled with Vandy's loss last night clenched the SEC regular season title for us?
That is a joke by the way, but if you think all I do is talk about the Gators ...

That is a self-defined accurate statement since zero is a number, as is a million.

What I'm saying is that you need to extract your Gator tales (sic) from any of your future posts, if you don't want the kind of reaction that invariably occurs when you do. But I suspect you really could care less -- and that's another reason some dislike you. It's about minding your manners when you post, hifi. Folks have requested that you behave somewhat differently than you would on your own board. But you haven't been polite enough to do that. Doesn't strike me as all that difficult.

It is very depressing to me that HiFiGator is a "Golden Hoya" while I am a mere "Silver Hoya."

avant, so what you are trying to say is a paraphrase from Steve Martin to the late John Candy (rest his soul) in Planes, Tranes and Automobiles:
"When you tell these little stories, have a POINT! It makes it so much more enjoyable for the listener."
I will try to keep that in mind.

HiFi:
Isn't there some other program to which you can affix your self like a barnacle on the hull of a ship?
Put another way: Can't you do your Single White HiFi act in some other apartment?

People have been saying that to you ever since that first stupid, weak sauce, god-awful "pray for my friend" post almost a year ago, you dolt. And you know it. Stop being so disingenuous. How many times in the last year have I - and others - typed a variation of the following: "Nobody has a problem with you when you're on topic and don't interject all your Gator crap into Hoya posts. Stay on point and all's well."

I will make a comment on topic, like I did in pointing out that feeling like the refs jobbed you runs with the territory and that you should reserve those arguments when they actually cost you, and then someone will jump in with some totally bogus reply like "why are you here?" Then someone else will fan the flames in some way, shape or form and the next thing you know, the thread is hijacked and you try to point the finger at me. You act like there is no place for smack talking at all. I say there is if done politely, yet it seems to bother you so much that I pretty much eschew any at all. Then when someone pushes me far enough that I do respond with some smack of some sort, then you jump in with things like "that's all I ever do." It's just plain silly. You would have to admit that much wouldn't you?

It makes it so much more enjoyable for the listener." I will try to keep that in mind. Unfortunately that's not exactly what I'm saying. Check out what you posted in another thread today: Avant, but that's the point UVA lost! You guys didn't in almost the same situation. I think UVA was still tied for the lead in the ACC. They went on the road to a bottom rung conference opponent and took an L, knocking them out of first place. You were tied for the BE lead and went on the road to the last place team in the conference ... and WON. That isn't as much of a story. If you really wanted it to be a story then all you had to do was lose.
Our loss to Vandy got nearly top billing last Saturday. Yesterday we won, which coupled with Vandy's loss gave us only our second outright SEC title in history, yet it wasn't exactly front page material. It is good to be in a position where wins are so expected that your games only become newsworthy when you lose. If you think about it, that ultimately is pretty much the goal.Do you really think it was necessary to post anything regarding Florida? Your point would have stood just as well without it, but no, you couldn't resist. I'm beginning to think it's pathological with you, bro. And I'm one of those who hasn't had an ax to grind with most of your posts....

hifi - If you keep your posts on-topic and relevant to the main theme of discussion here (Georgetown Hoyas basketball), nobody here will have a problem with you.
Look, I'm a huge fan of the Calgary Flames. I follow the team as closely as I can, and I'm pretty passionate about them. But I don't mention them at all on these boards because I know that nobody else here cares about the Calgary Flames! It's the same with the Florida Gators - nobody here cares about them, except when they have something to do with Georgetown. I'd get the same reception you're getting if I peppered all my posts with Calgary Flames references and stories.
If you have something valuable to contribute to the discussion of the topic of these boards, fire away. But if you can't get through an entire post without mentioning the Florida Gators, then you're really wasting our time and your time. You really have to have something better to do with your time than talk to people about something they're completely uninterested in.

That reference was clearly for illustration purposes with regard to the point -- that being the final sentence: It is good to be in a position where wins are so expected that your games only become newsworthy when you lose. If you think about it, that ultimately is pretty much the goal. That would not have been as clear without the example. Remember, this post was in the context of a complaint by one of your brethren that your win over Cincy wasn't getting much coverage among the National media. Try to have a legitimate reason to criticize me, rather than just pulling something out of your ... pocket.

There are multiple forums on this board for a reason as Buff was so anxious to point out months ago. In fact there is one dedicated to Pro And College teams (Non-Georgetown related). There are threads about hockey, spring-training baseball and even Nascar! Once again it looks like you are just looking for a reason to lambaste me and once again I am undeserving of such. For what it's worth, I still keep a casual eye on the flames. It goes back to when I was a kid and they were the Atlanta Flames. At that point there were no Florida Panthers or TB Lightning. The Atlanta Flames were our "regional" team. But that is a story for another time.

In fact there is one dedicated to Pro And College teams (Non-Georgetown related). There are threads about hockey, spring-training baseball and even Nascar! Point of clarification: the multiple forums are a (relatively) new addition to the HoyaTalk world. They were added when the forum migrated over to ProBoards. DFW and the mods will correct me if I am wrong, but as I recollect the change, they were added in order to ensure that Hoya Basketball (and Football!) discussions would remain relatively free of unrelated clutter. At the same time, the secondary forums allow the community to discuss other items of mutual interest--thus, the sports nuts tend to migrate to the pro and college sports threads, while the alums and students love the 37th and O and Hoya Blue realms, and the geeks, wonks, and agitators can mix it up in the Blue and Grey forum. Make no mistake, however, that 99% of the 2500+ posters have one thing in common: they love Georgetown Basketball (and Football!). The multiple forums are intended to be for fans of the Hoyas to talk about other common interests.

That's pretty much what I was saying. Much of the animosity in my direction isn't because of what I say but rather who I am. Since I am not Hoya first and foremost I am treated like a leper, although I root for Georgetown over all but one other team ... at least in hoops. I honestly know zilch about your football program.
