Now that they have a second chance, do you think Indiana might take Frederic Weis from the Knicks? He's the player the Knicks chose in the first round when they passed on Artest, whom they had personally promised to draft?

I remember that draft and how crushed I was after that pick. Being from near NYC, I semi-followed the Johnnies and was well aware of Artest, and was ecstatic he was still available when the Knicks were set to pick. Then, everything came crashing down as the Knicks selected some random stiff out of France whom TNT didn't even have highlights for. If I recall correctly, I think that's one of the few times Charles Barkley was at a loss for words.

Random stiff?
Obviously you don't remember Vince Carter and the 2000 Olympic Games.
Frederic Weis will never ever be known as "random" again.

There was a SI cover story about a month ago about how Artest and Bird are great pals and all that, I guess that didnt really work out.

Well, he was pretty random in the summer of 1999 when he was drafted. Unless you heard of him before the 2000 Olympics, I stand by my statement. And yes, I do remember Vinsanity posterizing him. Here's another fun memory: during a Knicks-Spurs game maybe 2 or 3 years ago, MSG interviewed Tony Parker for their pre-game special. One of the questions asked was, "Do you think Frederic Weis will ever eventually make it to the NBA?" His response. Laughter. That sums it up right there.

Sorry, sounded like you were calling him a random stiff in the present tense. My bad.
He is actually the definition of "stiff" though.

Artest is now the biggest bum I have ever cheered for at one point. The Indiana fans are loyal fans and provide great support for their team. This A*****E basically stabbed every Pacers fan in the back. Most of us supported him last year despite his issues and now this is the payback. This is the type of guy that gives pro athletes a bad name.
I hope he goes to Atlanta or Toronto where he will be a number one scorer on an awful team. Better yet, I wish we would TO him and never play him again and then hope that no one else in the league would ever give him a shot. This is what he deserves.

I commiserate. This has to hurt, given how the entire community stood behind Artest. I guess the SI article talking about how much he loved the community was just so much bs.
A trade to the Hawks is apparently a possibility. That would serve him right. The main possibility seems to be Artest for Peja, which would do wonders for the King defense.
