I know we got some closet tennis fans on this board (for god's sake, we even have White Sox fans!). Anyone else watching the Open? I've been an Agassi fan forever, but I just love watching Federer. You'd think a guy dominating so easily would be boring, but he's one of the most incredible athletes I've ever seen. He's in the small group of athletes who I never flip channels on, in case they do something I've never seen before - guys like Vick or Iverson.
Anyway, I'm rooting for Andre, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Federer is simply too good.

Well, apparently I am the only one, but I've got no problem talking to myself. If there's ever been a player as good as Federer, I've never seen him. Sampras was incredible, but so much of it was the serve. Federer is so good as every phase of the game. I'm astounded everytime I watch him.

Can't have you talking to yourself, NYC (despite your Sox barb). Yes, Federer is definitely the real deal. I can't recall the last time I saw a top player who just seems so smooth in all aspects of the game. I wouldn't put him in Rod Laver territory yet (still my choice for top player ever), but he's definitely moving up. If he can continue playing at this level or improve for the rest of this decade (not all that unlikely if he remains healthy and motivated), he may stand alone.
