I'm a Redskins fan and I can already see how bad they are going to be. No QB, No running back that can get more then 2 yards a carry, and no one else that is a star. Danny S could bring back Gibbs but it aint helping them win a title. He should have stayed with NASCAR. Just turn left!!!!!!

Oh yeah, they are bad. Its going to be worse by midseason. This team or franchise isn't built to win football games. Its built to make money. These players don't come to D.C. play and work hard, and strive for a Super Bowl. They come here to get paid. Thus, you see the type of results. Joe Gibbs, love him. One of the best coaches ever. Has anybody seen the expression on his face. It says "Oh my God, what in the world have I stepped into". I'd be suprised if he is coaching the team next year. Greg Williams will be the coach next year. They have no QB. Ramsey has never felt wanted by this team. Spurrier didn't want to draft him. Gibbs signed an over-the-hill QB for 43 million dollars (and a 2nd round pick) to start over him. THEN, Gibbs traded their first round pick for next year to draft a QB in the 1st round this year. What does that tell you? Ramsey right now, looks like a guy who knows his time is almost up with this franchise. Its sad, because they psychologically damaged this kid's mind. The kid almost lost every body-part for this franchise his 2nd year, and they give him the run around. The Offense stinks. All the speed in the world and the receivers, i.e., midgets, can't get open. At least Spurrier's receivers could get open, but then again nobody was left to block. Gibbs' offense is outdated. The Defense is going to be in for a rude awakening this year. They have one legit corner in Springs. Rogers name will be "toast" this year. Damn, did you see how bad he got burnt 2 times in a row ,and then he just quit trying to run the guy down? Lemar Marshall is a good player, but he is no middle linebacker. There is still no pass rush with this team. Greg Williams will have to work miracles again this year for this defense. Lavar Arrington will not fit with this team. The overrated talent does not know how to work within a structered, discipline defense. He will be in for a rude awakening as well. This team is doomed.

For the first time in a long time - I completely agree with you _way. This team is going to be the Kansas City Royals of Football - and IMHO they should get the same off season treatment - a complete cleaning of house from the top down and have someone tell the idiot in the owners box to stop signing players that are here to get paid for a fairwell tour.
Ramsey is extremely damaged - he actually played for Steve Spurrier - enough said.
The most talented offensive player on this team in the last 5 years was Stephen Davis and he got driven out of town by the coaching staff and ownership.
In short, this team will be bad enough to make me watch Caps games on OLN.

In short, this team will be bad enough to make me watch Caps games on OLN. Yeah, ummm, about that.... I don't know if you should count on the Caps for any kind of winning fix. Pretty much regarded as the worst team in the league coming into this season (and they haven't made any moves that would change those opinions). I hope they can surprise, they're one DC pro team I have a real fondness for, but I'm not going to be making any wagers on it. (which is a shame, in my opinion, but about what DC deserves for all the support the city's given them - and I'm talking about pre-lockout support). Sorry, I'll keep my frozen thoughts restricted from now on to the the thread reserved for us hockey outcasts. As for the 'Skins, much like has been said about a certain neighboring baseball team with a certain Napoleonic owner, they will most likely never get better as long as Voldemort (as TMQ calls him) is still in charge. Speaking of TMQ, his columns are back on NFL.com, so I've got to go print out the August fare......

I think all they really need is a good QB. They have the potential at running back, although we haven't really seen it, and they have a good but not great WR core. On the D side, they have some really good linebackers, and CB's so I'm not really sure why they suck as much as they do for so long but they really suck. Maybe the big problem is in the O and D lines. I never pay too much attention to the linemen. They are like the bass player in a band. You need the bass but they aren't usally the star.

I too am a redskins fan. I'm not too optimistic about the upcoming season either.
Whoever said Ramsey was 'damaged' has it completely on the button. Spurrier just let him get steamrolled that one season. He was VISIBLY different after that. It wasn't even just the sacks either, he was getting hit on EVERY play and it actually made me physically sick to see that tough kid have to take a beating like that.
Santana Moss could be good, but the writers all seem to think Patten is a suspect #2 at best. However before the toe injury, Jacobs seemed poised to come out and make a difference for us on the field. Cooley should be a good reliable target. If we can blend Chris as our possession guy and get the occaisonal bomb to Moss / Patten, our passing game should be below average (which in my opinion is all we actually need).
Clinton Portis is an absolute stud and I have to believe that he will have a great year. One of the better things about Gibbs is his willingness to try new things. It has been reported that he has changed to more zone-blocking schemes for Portis, which is what was successful for him in Denver.
Gibbs, Gibbs, Gibbs. I think the media has all but written him off as a dinosaur. The Brunell mistake was a horrible embarrassment for him and the franchise. I still have faith in the man though. I desperately want to see him field a competitive team. You can see he takes each loss VERY personally...
I think the defense will be OK as long as Springs knees hold up. Gregg Williams has proven that he can perform miracles. If we can get some extra playmaking from arrington then we'll see. Rogers will be fine. He got burned because he got tired due to lack of conditioning coz of his foot. Trust me the defense will be fine. Plus Sean Taylor is poised to have a monster year. My one buddy who is an eagles fan said this about him to me:
"Before sunday, I'm only really scared of one guy. I'm thinking about Sean Taylor. I just know he's going to come into the game and end McNabb's/Westbrook's/Owens' season."
So, overall a pretty mediocre / bleak outlook for the season, but can we all agree that AT LEAST it wasn't one of those offseasons where we made craploads of moves and had a whole bunch of media focus and expectations? This could be the year we take a few people by surprise. Although that last sentence looks like crap when I reread it...
I could write about the skins all day..

How can this thread have gone 8 days without the typical Georgetown student reaction to the Redskins? (I'm going to reserve providing it until I see if Orton makes it through the opening game, though).

2-0 when the offense is not yet clicking (if it ever will) is not a bad start. I think 8-9 wins can get you in the post season in the NFC this year. We shall see . . .

Not to bag on the Skins, since they are 2-0 after all and since -- God knows -- my team hasn't even showed up to play yet this year (ugh! and people thought Kyle Boller was bad). But they're still going to have a tough time getting up to even 6 wins with their schedule. Their next win might not come until San Francisco and after that, maybe not until Arizona. I'll be the first to eat crow if they can keep this up and pull out wins. I just don't see it happening with the schedule they've got in front of them. As you say, we shall see. . .
