Non waiver deadline is the 31st...and i can honestly say this is the least interesting trade deadline of all time. the jewel is a career sub 500 pitcher who has "great stuff". the top position player available is...alfonso soriano, i think. may i suggest to whoever acquires him to not bat him leadoff or expect him to play hard. anyway, curious to see if anyone sees their squads make major deals. my bet is on the yankees standing pat. cambridge, think the mueller for jc romero deal goes down?

My Braves need to do something. They've got a ton of young talented players to trade if they want to make a run this year - and they have the starting pitching (when healthy) to sustain a playoff run - if the front office wants to do that.

I can't imagine anything less appealing. I know, we'll probably do something totally stupid...but I just don't see anything worth going for on the market. For example, the Mueller/Romero trade would mean - we send one time batting champion (sure it was flukey, but still the man bats about .600 with people on base) who plays very solid if unspectacular defense and receive a shaky reliever with control problems, attitude problems and a recent dip in his mph.

I love how this is the really a trade non-deadline. Yeah, I know its different from the waiver-trade deadline, but how many times in recent years have guys been traded AFTER the supposed trade deadline? C'mon baseball... if you're going to call it a deadline, MAKE IT a deadline. No trades after July 31 period.
